Having a discussion yesterday about worst strikers ever, you know, the kind of player who have made a career out of being shit.
Usually they start off with a massive reputation (by virtue of playing for a big club) and then are repeatedly signed by clubs in the hope of firing them up the league, but in reality they haven't scored in about five years.
Top candidates of the top of my head:
Jeremie Aliadiere - aged 28, 14 career goals in 128 appearances
Vincent Pericard - aged 28, 23 career goals in 161 appearances
Freddie Sears - aged 21, 3 career goals in 74 appearances
Players like Marcus Bent (107 goals), Trevor Benjamin (106 goals), Jermaine Beckford (more goals than Carlton Cole) who you'd think would easily be a shoe in don't even get close to the level of ineptitude. 30 career goals seems to be a decent cutoff point.
