Sparky, you don't need to change your shifter, there are some handlebar that'll be perfectly fine with a bar end shifter.
here's an example;
The advantage of this set-up is that you can revert back to your drop bar, which I'm sure you'd rather have since you're simply experimenting different bar set-up.
also you may need a longer stem to compensate.
