Word to the wise. Be very wary of all protein diets. A few years ago when I was boxing and at 15.5 stone (6ft 3in) I did the Atkins diet and ate a lot of meat/fish with veg but no carbs as such. Ended up giving myself an attack of gout through this as it's very hard on the kidneys. Gout is not something you want to experience, trust me, the pain is incredible. I'm not saying fad diets don't work in the short term (depending on what you want to achieve) I'm just saying be careful, especially when it comes to consuming large amounts of protein with not much else to balance things out...
I've just done about three weeks on a low carb diet and have lost quite a bit of weight, more than I expected. I have not been targeting high protein, though. Just no rice, cereals, pasta, bread, potatoes or any kind of sugar, no eating after six etc. Lots of veg, salads, nuts, eggs and a bit of cheese. I'm sure it's probably not the healthiest way to diet but you do lose that bloated look quite quickly. I can still taste that melt in the mouth truffle tagliatelle I had after the tweed run though, and I want some more, now!
