Of course one might be inclinded not to vote for the party you believe in because it's pointless under the current system, but good point there Jackie.

Ms. Wilson agrees, or does she?
Kathryn Wilson, solicitor, 27 voted No because she did not want AV but instead wanted to see Proportional Representation. After her error was pointed out, the flustered lawyer added: "Sorry, I mean first past the post. I don't think AV works."

I feel referendums generally are a bit of a joke. We vote down idealogical lines every General Election, after that the policies should be thrashed out between those who actually know the details.
When the ask the public to vote...
75% go with the simplest, easily campaigned option. Or on personality.
25% look a little into it, read a little (non campaign material) before forming opinion.
10% are blood relatives or on a payroll.and I can't count.

My old man reckons that if it was ever going to happen it just would have been put in place.
He says referendums only happen when the govt know what the outcome will be and want to appear like they gave us a choice. -

Stopped praying around 8 years ago, certainly wouldn't get involved in this nonsense.
Praying will do more to affect your day to day life than voting, regardless of the system.

A pretty good analysis of the campaign that was run. epic fail by yes to build coalitions and to reach outside of their core territory

Proud of Hackney for having had the highest vote in favour of AV in the country:
Still, crap overall outcome.

That is the second of two articles that have an interesting phrase.
They say that #% voted to retain first past the post.
Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought the vote was particularly worded to ask whether we wanted AV, not whether we wanted to keep FPTP.
Undoubtedly some people voted No because they wanted more change (full PR), not because they thought everything was good the way it is.

You have made Jesus angry, you will be struck off the electoral register and singled out in the final judgment.

You're correct, the result was NO to AV not YES to anything but as I understand it for the next 50-100 years anyone who brings up the subject of electoral reform will be reminded of how in 2011 the british public voted overwhelmingly to keep FPTP.
Jackie 'it is quite stupid' Currie.
haha.
