  • Ok I really need to discuss this. It is not really question but a 'ridestyle' dilemma. I live in a town where most people are honest. And I mean, REALLY honest. I am Italian and I know how things work...how people don't really care about anything and everyone is ready to stab you in the back as soon as you get the soap from the floor. So yeah, I understand why I should seek security in the lock....but here in switzerland things are really different.

That's why I bought the kryptonite forget about it without second thoughts. I honestly...cannot forget about it...I paid a lot of money for it, than it came and yep...that's VERY big and VERY heavy. I'm not sure I'll ever need one of these in this town....and not for my bike (a stock fuji classic). Bike usually stays inside the house or in the garage. Longest parking times are in the university gardens. Other things: few hours if I go out shopping or I leave it in front of the post office for few minutes. No night long parkings at the station or in the streets.

The forget about it is also not big enough to chain the frame to a pole. I've also bought a kryptonite steel cable (120cm) to do that...but it is another (big) thing to bring whenever I go out and it's really not comfortable.

Nobody (the occasional stealer) goes out in the afternoon with a chainsaw ready to cut people' u-locks so I am pretty sure nobody will be able to picklock or cut a kryptonite evolution (which is already lighter and thinner than the forgetaboutit) while i go shopping for 30 minutes or I stay in university for 4 hours with the bike parked in the garden.

I can understand that if someone leaves a 3000£ bike in the streets every night in the same place, an apocalypse-proof lock should be a must but that's not my case. Should I sell the forget about it and get an evolution or even thinner one?
