  • Yes, my Triumph was MoT'd at Essential and that's damn loud.
The Vespa was MoT'd at Riverside and that was not only very old but it set car alarms off it was so noisy. No silencer, you see.

  • Thats the think one bike OK, but several is a bit odd. Not just me either.

The think is I do have a fleet, well had and did MOT for mates too. Or in my case an excuse to enjoy there bikes as they were too busy to ride them.

  • calling all cars, calling all cars.

    stolen BMW alert.............. mine.

    :-(

silvery blue, r100rs. taken from outside my house early hours on this morning. this is such an inconvenience.

  • No fucking way! Really sorry about that mate. Might want to let us know location to see if it pops up on any of the local estates?

  • taken from new cross gate, south east.
i was laying there this morning trying to decide wether i should wear all leather or jeans and leather not knowing that it wasnt even there :-) they threw the cover by my door. i miss it already. i hate thieves.

  • That's such crummy news. Sorry chap.

  • That sucks. I thought older, slightly rarer bikes were immune from this sort of nonsense. Obviously not.

    Sorry, fella.

  • Hard to work or write this with crossed fingers... let's hope it might re-appear...

Terrible news, having had my one stolen last summer I know how you feel just now...

    Fingers crossed brother...

    L

  • OH FUCK! That is such uber shitty news.

Pro thieves or chancers? How tough was the lock?

    Fuckityfuckityfuckityfuck.

  • If I get one it shall live in the living room for precisely this reason.

Yet to tell other half this, but given the way she shouts at me for leaving bicycles all over the flat it should be fine...

  • steering lock and cover. i guess it must have been chosen rather than opportunist thieves walking past. my neighbor opposite had his 15 year old triumph stolen last week. a house around the corner has two bikes under covers parked in the road all the time. maybe they are next on the list, in a way i hope so as one of them has a very expensive alarm fitted most probably with a tracking device. this will lead the police to mine :-)

  • Shit, G, that is really bad news. So sorry for you. It's horrible when this happens...

  • Can't go to France without you! But we'll go, whenever this is!

    L

  • france will happen. that list needs to be revived. i have faith that it will come back or a better one will present itself. ever hopeful, ever cheery.

  • I just saw the loveliest war-era BSA riding down Ilkeston Road.
Such a perfect sound was made....

Gerald- I hope it gets returned to you.
    H

  • cheers h

  • Bad luck fella.

I'm paranoid about by bike getting pinched, I have a ground anchor, an alarm, a disk lock and a cover, but I still can't sleep if the bike is outside my house.

Mostly, when it's parked up, its in the car park at work, in level -4 of an office block with hundreds of cameras everywhere and 24 hour security standing by the carpark barrier.

    Like I said, I'm paranoid.

  • ahh fuckers! I had a bike stolen a few years ago (when i was 13 actually) it broke my heart :( Miss the bloody thing so much...

Still.. I have a new one now, and as of today im insured and legal to ride :D So so fun :D went down to the local for a half... Lovely job.

Here is the beast, with me sitting on it as soon as i got out of bed....

  • Fucking hell Gerald that's bad news.
I hope it's recovered soon, though I never saw my lovely little Velocifero again, so don't hold your breath.

Me too. Motrax disc lock, big fucking chain, alarm immobiliser.

I stopped leaving mine at home when the cover (that was locked to the bike) was stolen. Since then it's also lived at work, 2 floors underground in a dry garage, in the most secure area of London, 24 hour security who know me and my bike, CCTV, only accessible by RFID card.

  • ^Another Canary Wharf boy, eh?

  • Damn! Really sorry to hear that Gerald. It may still turn up. Were the police helpful? I had a GSXR750 slabby stolen years ago from outside my place then in Camberwell. The police found it on a local estate and notified me. Managed to ride it away, undamaged, under the gaze of a load of little hoodie scrotes. Maybe yours will turn up in the next few days fella, here's hoping.

  • what age can you ride a 600cc? looking to do my full motorbike licence

  • you can ride one at whatever age, but if you're under 21 (i think), or within 3 years of passing the regular test (i think) it has to be restricted in terms of power, so most modern 600s will be sluggish due to the weight. you can do DAS at 21 (i think) which allows you to ride any bike.

i'm sure someone will clarify exact ages and that.

It's 2 years after your test, not 3. Everything else is correct. If you turn 21 before your 2 years is up you can do accelerated access which basically means you resit your test but instead of using a 125cc like the first time round, you use a bigger bike a la DAS.

  • ^^^This, and I had never heard of accelerated access.
I sat my test when I was 19 I think then didn't ride at all for about 3 years then got a 600 supermoto, that was a bit scary at first!
The restriction, I have been told, usually comprises of a washer in the exhaust system which reduces gas flow and restricts the power. (Maybe not anymore since a lot of bikes are fuel injected?) This can be easily removed in the privacy of your garage and supposedly the Old Bill shouldn't ever check your power output unless you are involved in a crash that results in a fatality.
You didn't hear that from me though.
