laner, this thread is not just about "the list". It's an excellent resource for those that are looking for the best in bicycle locking....materials and methods. It hasn't just happened by accident. I have sent polite private messages to several people, to ask them if they would preserve this thread in the serious resource it has become. Every single person has agreed. And that is why this thread has not been derailed.....because everyone saw the merit of it.
I pooled information, and gained exceptional input from forum members here. It's a community resource. It would never have been as good as this without the forum's input. No thread is sacrosant, true, but it can be kept on track, and as a resource, if people believe its worth it. So far, everyone has seen some use in it. I hope you might also.
Also, the reach of this thread has gone far past just the use of forum members. Just look at the linkbacks below. Keeping it on track isn't easy, but quite a few people would like to see it kept this way. In the end, its the forum that decides. It could have been derailed long ago, but wasn't. Oh yes, even Kryptonite read this thread, and have actively taken part on this forum......openly and privately.
