Chunky strap and case, but delicate face and spindly hand. Doesn't work for me, sorry.

yea, its a bit extreme but i like the contrast and that it almost is like a black hole in the middle.

Great looking watch. I'd also change the strap.

The Braun went for £189 in the end.

^ yeah, I was watching. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was still surprised to see it go for so much.
I'm hoping someone at a car boot sale has one for 50p... that's where I got my Braun alarm clocks from:
The voice activated one is great. All you have to do is groan your favourite expletive and it goes onto snooze.

here is a nice one handed watch. was thinking about one of these last year

I do like Meistersingers. A German colleague has one and they are beautiful in the flesh.
On another note...can someone recommend an automated watch winder maker? There are tons on ebay and on other sites but I have no idea what to look for in terms of options for the winding motion, frequency, etc.

I had one of these years ago. The thing you don't realise before you buy one is that when you're roused from the depths of slumber it actually takes more energy to shout "shut up" at it than to reach out and press the button. It is thus largely pointless.
I replaced it with one that wakes me to the sound of Stephen Fry gently telling me to get out of bed. -

How many should it hold?

I use a Time Tutelary. Black single watch one about £30.
It turns on for a few hours then off again throughout the day. The switch gives a choice of direction and off.

Mine's only on the shelf above my bed, all I have to do is mumble and it turns off. I do remember my stepdad having one when I was a kid and hearing him shout 'off... off... OFF.... OFF!' every morning though.

Years ago when I had a roommate and worked night shift I owned one of those Braun clocks.
It always took about 5 or 6 Shut ups before the alarm stopped.
I eventually threw it against the wall.

Ohhhhh...one or two, OK maybe 5 or 6. But you go beyond two watches and then it gets stupidly expensive. But anyway.
From what I've read there are longer term dangers with only having the watch wound in a particular way as mechanical repetition is not the same as body movements so it puts a certain kind of wear on the mainspring. It could be total bollox (I mean really, Internet forums are so untrustworthy and full of complete shit talkers), but I did want to check on that.
Is there a "must have" feature for winders?

@both of you should get some fat spring bars well worth it (22mm)
On another note - I followed Murts' advice and got the fat pins for something and the guy sent me 4 pairs instead of one and doesn't want the rest back. So, I have a few pairs of 22mm fat pins going free if anyone wants any. Hippy? Murts?

If you Braun fans haven't already, I heartily recommend the Dieter Rams book, Less and More

Don't any of you read the City A.M. newspaper? Today had a watch special, and I'm surprised that none of you have mentioned it.
A 10-page pull-out! And luckily, you can download the whole thing from the City A.M. website. Its pages 19-29.

Yeah I've got it. I do like his stuff/general modernist stuff in isolation, but I think if you had a house full of it, it'd be really bland and emotionless (as evidenced by photos of his studio). I think sometimes a design needs a few aesthetic flaws or components which are slightly out of proportion, or even just a slightly whimsical edge, to make it characterful - one of the reasons I sold my Braun AW22 is that (whisper it) I found it bit boring.
But on the other hand, I admittedly have terrible taste.

Like.
I have this watch for sale- I paid £99 for it and would like that for it.
The reason that I am selling it is simply one of size- despite the rather masculine styling I would call this a ladies watch as it is sized as one.
It's a beautiful watch and if it was slightly larger I'd be wearing it very happily.

Shit, sorry Neil, never did reply to that PM.
Would still be interested in that trade but it won't be for a while. Aroogah you go nuts if you want it.
