Tim's tips -
bib shorts are good. even in stealth mode (under civvies). I think they may be even more important when riding fixed because you can't stand up as easily to take a break on your gooch.
saddle mounted bottle cage is a good idea if your frame doesn't have mounts.
don't get lost in North downs like I did. even one extra loop means more pain! (i felt that extra 12k at the end)
72 GI was fine for the most part but meant walking the 2nd half of ditchling. gear down!
This gearing made me hate my heavy as fuck frame and wheels.
Route was great for the most part, only things to note the steep descent just before you cross the m25 has a lot of big stones on the road, brakeless riders in particular watch out. Also descent after Ardingly has some nasty potholes.
