Sorry, missed the quote - Not you unless you have stubble on your chin and a grubby chain.

Thanks Joe! I owe you a carvery and a pint I think, I suspect a few others may do too.

Did anyone else not get their little badge? I signed up and paid for one just as they were closing up but still haven't received it. (Sadface)
-
• #258
I bought mine when I was at my final checkpoint and they just gave me it there. Didn't realise you had to send off for one?
-
• #259
Yeah, but we were slow and they'd run out by the time we finished.
-
• #260
No badge here yet either. Maybe they're just being slow?

What gearing did guys use for this? I'm doing the Wiggle IOW Sportive in Dec and can't remember what the hills are like.
-
• #262
done it on 75" a couple of times
depends how much of a masochist you are,
why give your money to wiggle anyway they got enough
the route is signposted anyway -
• #263
its not the round the island route but this one
http://ukcyclingevents.satmap.co.uk/route.aspx?c=64That looks quite a nice route in fact, the west of the island being the quietest road wise

70". I'd say there's only one really b@stard hill out of Shanklin (going clockwise), the rest of it is nicely rolling.
-
• #265
I did it on 69", anything over 70" might be a bit high, it is quite undulating.
Our badges turned up in the end, woo.

Right kids.
Have just checked on tipis and we can get 2 for £200 for 2 nights (6 people each) = less than £17 per person for 2 nights.
We stayed in the same place last year and it was awesome and pretty convenient both for from/to ferry and to start/finish of ride.Ride is on Sunday 6th May 2012.
Ideally we head over on the ferry on the saturday morning /lunch, get set up, have some beers and get ready (drunk) for the next day.
Head back on ferry in the morning on the monday, which is a bank holiday.
The train to portsmouth and the ferry are pretty cheap with groupsave. I'll leave someone else to sort that bit out...

I love this ride... i think the missus and I will be staying in a little guest house in Shanklin again.
-
• #273
+1 this is a great ride. We rented a house near Cowes for the weekend last year and plan to do the same this year. With ride clockwise this year the logjam at the chain ferry won't be the issue that it was last year.

hmmmmm I'd flippin love to make this.
