Saturday 7 May is the next round of Open Racing at Herne Hill. Racing starts at 2.30pm.
The format / programme will be similar but not the same as the previous round in April. I hope the weather will be awesome and the turnout just as good.
Any special requests for events, arrangements etc, tell em to me now.

Pursuit?

Do I need to enter in advance for these meets?
How many groups are there (I race welwyn and am between the A and B groups-is this meet similar?) -
• #31
@gazrichards - you can enter on the line (I think almost everyone does), and there will be A and B races. I think it'll be similar to what you are used to at Welywn,
Tom - pursuits at these open events are difficult because only 2-3 clubs attend in enough numbers. However, if Rolla and VCL wanted a rematch maybe we could squeeze it in ...

I was talking individual pursuits, but they take so long to get through and boring to watch, so not a good idea maybe! Just trying to get my moneys worth from the bars I bought :)
we don't need a TP rematch, we quite clearly won...

Yeah, IPs not really possible at an open meet which starts at 1430 without seriously compromising the program, you can do it with 6 up on the track but even so, it's a lot of organising. Might take 45-50 mins if 50 riders want to do it. Plus timers and holders at each station...

I'll be along for this one.
Any Kerins?.... I need more keirin practice... -
• #35
OK, after a special request there's going to be a kilo on Saturday. People will have to separately sign in on the start line to enter.
-
• #36
Cool! I think. Not sure Ive ever done one before.
Sounds painful. -
• #37
kilo's can fuck right off!
I demand a keirin! -
• #38
How do you know there won't be a keirin?
-
• #39
The fact has neither been confirmed or denied....
-
• #40
Can't race this weekend :-(
Kilo's are hell. Probably the most unpleasant of all the unpleasant events.
-
• #41
In April's event Rolla hosted a keirin so this month we've decided to do something different, partly due to the tandem event that will be (short) part of the day. So yes, that's a confirmation there'll be no keirin. Maybe this is a good time to campaign for a keirin at the June event (which would then allow some specific race training ahead of the race).
-
• #42
But 'hoops demanded one. How can you be so mean as to deny him?
-
• #43
Event organisers have to be hard-hearted bastards, it's just the way of things
-
• #44
This is just not fair.
I'm writing to BC to complain. -
• #45
i'm excited really though.
-
• #46
This is a really good opportunity to do some tandem racing if anyone wants to give it a go (bring your own bike and willing partner).
-
• #47
.
-
• #48
any chance of knowing the whole program?
-
• #49
And is this a kilo or 2 laps (900m)?
-
• #50
I was once winning a track tandem on e bay about 8 years ago, was pleased when someone out bidded me though, think the novelty of owning it would of run out after 10mins
The most hellish thing I've done on the track is a 500m standing start, kind of puts me off the kilo but might as well give it a bash
