and that's a valid excuse to beat the shit out of somebody then?
funny (not) how people use a death and the resulting emotion to cause more grief. i remonstrated with a tipper driver after he tried to smear me and my bike along the road while talking on a mobile, his excuse "my uncles just died"
so that makes it o.k. to drive like a cunt then?I was wrong about the funeral actually, that was a while ago.
Never any excuse for violence in that situation, its unusual for hells angels to kick off like that though.

I'm part of the Hells Angel actually. They recently started allowing members with 'fixies' to join as part of an initiative improve their public image. It's wicked! Gets a bit hot riding in a leather jacket though.
I'll speak to Tony about this later tonight when I see him and find out if he knows anything about this.

do you have to beat up fake Angels with phony HA spoke cards?

It's my first week, I don't know all the rules just yet. I assume that will be case, yes.
Here's a pic of my sweet ride:

I have seen a gang of Hells Angels going through Debmark Hill on the way to HH last year. They did not stop at any lights and half of them were not wearing helmets. I thought it was pretty cool as I was riding amongst them for a while without any grief. Though I did get the impression it wouldn't have taken much for them to kick off

I once saw a picture of someone on the interwebz who might have looked a bit like a Hell's Angel because he was riding a motorbicycle. He wasn't smiling or handing out flowers to children and gave the distinct impression he was about to rape a nun and kill her grandparents with a toothpick in the face.

Angels don't pick fights with irrelevant and annoying flies. Your mate must have done something that caused offence.
The vast majority of Angels are mild mannered and middle-aged, only the younger lot are likely to engage in a fight, and even then they know there's a risk to it so will only do so if triggered by someone being particularly confrontational and abusive.
Disclaimer: My father is one and has been for 40 years. I've been to rallies when much younger, and I never saw any of them needlessly get violent. They're a perfectly reasonable lot and don't differ greatly to the culture of this here cycling community.
Sorry boss, with all due respect to you I comprehensively disagree. I've had several run ins with HA patch holders over the years and while I'm sure that some are as you suggest, I know from my own experience that some are overgrown playground bullies who like nothing more than to kick the crap out of someone who is inoffensive but happens to be in their way.

Well I can't vouchsafe for them, I can just speak of the ones I know. Lovely chaps, who have great make-shift BBQs out of shopping trolleys, very friendly ladies, and who have some interesting drinking games. The ones I know wouldn't hurt a fly though. Well, maybe that's biased by being the son of a tall one built like a brick shit-house, but hey... it's still my view of them.
Of course none of this excuses the beating the shit out of someone, but I do feel there's a difference between unprovoked violence and incited violence. Violence itself is unacceptable, but as long as it's not entirely random don't we all sleep more sound at night? That's rhetorical btw.

Heh, I found it ironic that your dad was a Hell's Angel and you decided to not follow in his footstep and become a computer geeks.

I saw a lot of bikers yesterday afternoon.. was eating in spitalfields market and the procession took a good couple minutes to ride past. Saw another one on his own around E&C who revived his engine & smiled for some excited kids in a car stopped next to it.

I'm more than happy to accept that some HA riders are lovely people, but I'm also open enough to believe that some HA riders might be horrible.

It's quite interesting how a bunch of Hell's Angles not wearing any helmets and jumping red light can be more cool than a group of well dressed affluent gentlemen in their 5 series BMW M driving down the North Circular while texting their coke dealers.

On Saturday afternoon a neighbour was attacked by several Hells Angels near Elephant and Castle. A group of them had rlj and when he did a "what was that?!!" gesture (he's a very even-tempered guy so would NOT have been abusive) they chased him down to Bricklayers Arms and into a local park. They beat him up. Luckily he was wearing a helmut, but the 3-4 Hells Angels were trying to gouge his eyes out. Just a warning to be careful. Safe riding everyone
What is a 'what was that?!!' gesture? I'm not sure I've encountered one. If there was an international meet, then these could well have been foreign bikers, and whatever gesture your neighbour made could have offencesive where they came from, or ambiguous enough for them get pissed by it.
All the bikers I've known HA or MCC or otherwise have been splendid fellows, but rather fighty. I would never make any gesture at one, let alone a group, unless it was an internationaly known gesture of respect, even then, I'd probably let it go. They tend to think they need to protect their reputation, are usually hard as nails, and can be as insecure as any other.

Yeah, I wonder why on earth you'd stick your nose in to anyone else rljing at all, whether car, mobile or cycle. Why would you give a toss, unless you are a busybody tool?

I didn't mean to sound to judgemental, and blame your neighbour for this attack. People should always be able to express themselves without fear of violent retribution. However, in reality, one should put self-preservation over freedom of expression, especiallywhen confronted by groups of men with violent reputations.

I was keeping my curiosity quiet, but I go through there twice a day, most days of the week, and I don't know of a "park" near the Bricklayers Arms.
tabard street is almost directly off of bricklayers arms roundabout, everyone loves a conspiracy though...

RLJing is entirely unacceptable at all times in motorised vehicles, it is sometimes / often unacceptable on a push-bike too, but not always.
