Taken the bolt completely out. Still doesn't go round the bent bit. Hammer option is looking favourite at the moment.

Insert a screwdriver to spread the stem opening while sliding it on the bar.

Are you trying to fit an oversize handlebar (31.8mm) into a smaller size space (26mm)?

you could have a 25.4mm stem i guess, or a 26.4mm bar.
what stem/bar are you using?

And to add to that i have a 26.4 3ttt stem that won't go round the curve of a pair of 26.4 cinelli giro

Regarding your 25.4 and 26.4 , have you tried a hammer?

Take the bolt out and (if you can) put the bolt in the opposite way with a 2 pence in the gap and slowly do the bolt up - this should spread the stem apart enough.

This is assuming they are the correct size.
