It's the eyes, the chilling blankness in the eyes that gets me, as they stand in the middle of the road 4 metres from a crossing point, about to walk straight out in front of you.
I'd have settled for seeing the eyes of the chap I hit a week or so back*. Unfortunately he trotted briskly into the road to hail a cab, facing away from me.
*I stayed on (+1 to playing rugby as a kid) and he was very obviously unhurt. To his credit he bounced up and apologised. First time I've hit a ped since I was a kid :-(
