Rik/Ben, what exactly should I be doing that would break more mallets?

I already play as much as I want to so I'm not likely to play more (unless West starts up again). I could hack more I guess? Or just try to always hit the ball as hard as I possibly can? Maybe I'm just not built to break mallets?

thinking about it, last year I only broke 2 or 3 mallets... this year so far 1

I get through a mallet a month on average... this is mainly due to poor mallet making skills and a tendency to hit the floor on shots (the bottom of the head always wears through). The latest batch is holding up much better though (Ryan made them).

I get through plenty of heads, but not shafts. Horse polo mallets are slightly angled to allow for the curve of your swing - I always think about trying it but then I remember I hate making mallets and go to the Spring Break blog (sponsored by Look Mum No Hands) for pictures of other people making mallets.
