  • Haha, sorry.
I've altered the original post to be all film images now.
I've been working on a mix of film adn digital so much recently that I forgot I was only supposed to post one type of image here.

  • Just went to the camera shop to buy some films and guy told me that they can't get velvia any more and they only have what's in the fridge.
I am aware that scares about films being discontinued spread like wildfire - could he be mistaken or did I misunderstand him?

  • Cheers boss! I'll look into this.

I developed my first roll the day before yesterday, it is seriously easy and very enjoyable. Do it!

  • From my first roll of the new Portra 400. 120 film in my Lubitel. Nice colours I think.

  • Nice pic. In terms of the colour - I'm pleased that it appears closer to the old NC than the VC, but slightly concerned that it looks Fuji cool rather than Kodak warm. Could just be that shot with the bright sunlight - and I think it works with the image to have it cool white/blue/green with the red frames popping slightly - but just thinking about the film there.

  • XP2 in Diafine

  • where do people get their images printed (exhibition quality)? Thinking of using printspace as I have heard good things about them and everything is done in-house(printing, mounting, framing).

also can't decide between Fuji Flex or Kodak Metallic...

Print space do a pack of prints which shows you all the different types of paper. Think it's about a fiver, they have some really nice matt textured paper which is nice for b&w

  • I know some people on here will hate this work but everyone else is posting stuff so here's some of my recent ones.
While I'm happy to hear criticism, please be aware that I am able to take a 'proper photograph" and make a 'proper print' but that wasn't what this was about.

There's more from that set here and more of my general work here if you want to see it.

    Loving the 'streetwork' set, M_V

  • few from my lubitell with a roll of Portra 160 VC.

Terrible scans (for some reason the lab scanned them as low res jpgs and I can only scan 35 mm at home)

  • long toe and shoulder on the XP2/diafine, loads of detail in the neg.
    nice shot too

  • long toe and shoulder

Kid looks normal to me ;-)

Cheers. It started as work for my major unit at uni but I'm going to continue it indefinitely. Maybe do some colour stuff too.

Now that I've read some Adam's books and the Zone 6 Workshop, I think I know what this means finally. Though strangely, my recent work would suggest otherwise.

Thanks. Couple more examples here. The one above and the steam powered organ are beautiful as wet prints. Try as I might I cannot get close with Rodinal though.

    XP2 + Rodinal

  • MetroLandman - Love that shot! Really makes me want to get some decent B&W on the go.

Here's another from the previous batch that I'm rather fond of:

I'm completely with you there. I did a set like this (albeit with a different subject) two years ago.

    I like this.

  • I like really like this and have just realised why - it reminds me of the film "The Third Man".

  • Gents, I am new to all this and am looking for some beginners advice. I have looked through the last few pages and the first page, but if at this point you have heard this all before please call me a dick and direct me in the direction of the info! Otherwise I have been doing some reading and some ebaying and was wanting your opinion on this;

Basically I am looking for something that is pretty versatile yet simple to play around with. If this isn't appropriate your recommendations would be much appreciated! If that is a good buy... dont bid on it! cheers.

  • They aren't bad cameras, quite simple and easy to use it doesn't come with a manual adapter though so you'd need one of those if you wanted to manually change the shutter speed. It's all automatic without it.

  • Thanks man. How much would one of those set me back and are they easy to come by?

  • @MetroLandman: really great images, very impressed with the level of information / tonal range, very nice. The kid in the shadow you posted first is my fave, I think.

  • Thanks mate. how much would be an acceptable price for the camera bundle?

  • I got one for £26 including postage on ebay a few years ago, so i'd say somewhere between £20 and £40 would be a good price. When you look at the photos of the camera on ebay it should have the manual adapter dial on the upper right of the body next to the lens.
