Got my desire HD through the post today.. It really is a beast!
Annoying that I can't remove the trial games that came pre-installed..

New place of work will be giving me a phone, anyone interested in an HTC Nexus one, with desk "dock", and slightly broken car dock?
You need to use an elastic band to hold it in the car dock, such is Google build quality sadly.
To be honest you need to use an elastic band to keep it in the desk-dock also.
The phone has been dropped on one corner, also, to be fair.

Apple may be more evil than Google (just) but they do work better.

Tell that to my girlfriend who has had to replace her iphone & ipod on at least a couple of occasions.
You can't even take the battery out on your own if it freezes.

True, but I need to pull the battery out on my Nexus 1 every couple of days to power cycle it- only way to unfreeze it.

That's really weird. My nexus 1 has been rock solid since it came out. Only time it freezes is because I've been fecking around over-clocking it, or playing with new kernels.

I'm on my third, they've all been the same- crash regularly, lock up requiring the battery to be pulled, "variable" reception.
That's kind of by the by, the stuff that really annoys me is (for example) copy and paste working in some applications, not others, and working differently between applications that it does work in.

Ah now I have changed the radio firmware on mine, the stock eu one sucks for reception. I'm running the korean one hehe

SO i went to the gadget show in birmingham on saturday, my friends family own scancomputers so went with him to help out..
i managed to get a play on the galaxy s 2 atthe samsung stand, its un friggin believable, i have never known a phone to dfeel so non exiostant, its thin , like really thin and weighs nothing at all...
Feels cheap plasticy though which is where the weight is saved but the hardware is amazing, super smooth and the screen looks like nothign i have seen before, it is crystal clear and when i played some preinstalled 720p vids it had it is actually clearer than the most expensive tv you can currently buy... anyone waiting on an upgrade, wait and play with this first...
Also i got to play with the HTC sensation but it was a pre release model and some features werent working, again screen is really good, really clear but the samsung is still twice as good, it feels heavy and a little fat, it seems thicker than my old htc HD2 as its got a curved back... new htc sense is pretty nice though, lots of little additional features and bits to make it feel acomplished again a good phone but HTC guy said that it is out any time in the next 2 months, which he recons means late june...
Finally i played with the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 on the vodaphone area in expansys, really nice bit of kit, android 3.0 is really good seems to work well on the tablet size and the samsung is really smooth with the interface.. that said they also had an ipad 2 next to it... ipad is still better IMO was really hoping the android tabs would be good but apple i think have won this market already...
anyway just wanted to share my geeky weekend experience with you...

So I won a Dell Streak 5" in the office raffle yesterday. First impressions are suprisingly good (I have a healthy dislike of Dell in general as we have to use them at work) Screen is sharp, its pretty responsive and quick, build quality is good and solid, its a little heavy, but in a reassuring way - it's basically like a giant smartphone, its unlocked and the 3G version so I can put my sim in it if I want to. Havent tested the battery life too much yet so will report back on that.

My phone's been on charge since 8pm (it was like 6%) its almost 5am and it's only 71%) should I be worried? It's taking a lot longer to charge?

Not great if you have everything turned up. Auto brightness, app killer and not playing games gives easily a day. Only downside is thee stupid charger which no one stocks and costs £25. After a few days you won't notice the size and browsing the web on anything else is painful. If you're not already running 2.2, upgrade before you use properly. Dell's backup is crap, apps disappear and pre-installed bits are taken away. Music player isn't great and is battery heavy.
Thanks. Running Dell update 2.2 and most rooting doesn't support stock upgrades. Not really sure I want this much bother or risk the warranty.
