This is my Dave Russell. Mavic cranks, Mavic GP4 tubs on Maillard 700 track hubs. Full bearing swap plus I wet and dried any pitting in the races, run smooth as silk. Very pleased with it but still need to do a few more changes. Bars and seatpost mainly.

love it. Brakeless on tubs?

Well its not my hack. Bit of a vanity build I guess! There are various routes around oxford where I can open it up without the fear of having to brake suddenly but it is more of an indulgence bike.

skidding on Vittoria Rally tubs makes a ridiculous screeeching sound. And is not a good idea.
Just saying.

Love the Mercian, would have had their decals personally but lovely and unfussy build

61! wow. It's like a pursuit frame for someone 6'6''

Geordie boy, you guessed right!
miro_o, I can live with doing a little hop skid to slow me down every now and again, but there's no way you'll catch me leaning over the front of the bike dragging my back wheel along! They're also Conti' Giros so pretty cheap with minimal armour. They came with the wheels so leaving them on for now.

Cheers, yeah me too, but it was repainted when I got it (by the original owner). Might get it restored at Mercian one day. But right now I'll just ride it.

Whats wrong with brakeless on tubs?
-
• #43762
you'll skid through them quickly, which is expensive, and effort to pry them off and reglue, especially if you're out on a ride.

Got you... Brakeless skidders take note

+1
That's a class ride!

Been upgrading - new seatpost, cranks and pedals, big improvements all round :)
Have also just built up a cheapy wheelset - system ex to open sports - which will be my road going wheels though I'm probably going to have to use them on the track this weekend unless I get my new track wheels sorted in time.
I really need a proper camera.

goodness me those fork blades look thin

another nice build. Loving it, especially those forks on the above Mercian.
System X/Open sport wheels are a favorite of mine, cheap, effective and look good. -

Zdenka, how tall are you?!
I'm 191.5 cm so thats 6'3" and a bit by my calculations. I'm all arm and legs with an inseam of 96.5 cm which means I need a short top tube yet long seattube. That kind of frame does not really exist when we're talking standart sizes. Taller frames always have really long TT's for what I need.
The drop from the saddle to the center of my handlebar stem connection is 20 cm. 33cm to the buttom of the bars.

@ flowmont: always love your builds, well the last two that i've been aware of.
@ upstart: What track wheels have you got your eyes on?

How do they work?
..and what's the deal with airline food?

Those forks look weird to me, kinda looks like they'll crumple the moment you saddle up.

Far too good for me at the moment but I've learnt from bitter experience it's better to buy once than multiple times!
