Gbob and The Hippy Closure!

Just got a message on the Facebook as follows:

Hi all,

firstly we would like to say thanks to everyone for their support over the last 3 and a half years, we've had a blast, and met some really cool people which we now call friends.
However, all good things come to an end, and both The Hippy and myself have decided to move on to pastures new!

We will be selling everything off over the next 3 months, or if someone was interested in the whole business, we would consider all sensible offers.

So thanks again, one and all, keep those wheels turning and we'll catch you on the road somewhere.

Shit... that's a shame... GBH have always been one of the most helpful shops, with an awesome collection of secondhand bits and bobs and both Gav & Jim are sound helpful guys... good luck on whatever you end up doing...

They had the biggest collection of stuff I've seen. May have to go into the overdraft and buy something before they go.

this sucks. I'm moving to Manchester too, wonder what a sensible offer for the business is... yeah I'll keep dreaming.

Cheers for the cool comments guys, it's nice to know we'll be missed! We're gonna be fettling bikes for many years to come yet, not quite sure where and for whom, but you don't mess with bikes for as long as we have and just give it all up!!
We're gonna have a bit of a party to celebrate the life of GBH, so we'll fire invites out as soon as we get it sorted.
Take it easy for now, and keep your eyes peeled, u never know where we'll turn up!
P.S- Always bring beers!!!!!!

i got the FB message too, sad news. i've left manchester but it was always a friendly and useful joint and the main node for the bike community in the NQ.

Bike boutique - best shop in town

Bike Boutique doesn't have that same feel that GBH has. Unfortunately.

No offense to bike boutique they do a good job, but they do make seem to treat me like a retarded student who's never held a spanner in his life.

They do make it seem like you're the fool almost. To be honest I don't think it's how you should run the business.. We do know what we're talking about!

There's a new bike shop opening soon on Hilton st called Keep Pedalling, hopefully it'll be a decent substitute for gbh

They're a pretty good shop and the guys in thre are really nice, I've never had any bad experience with them

BB good in my experience, helpful and reasonably priced. and not patronising. but i suppose paul+jamie know me a little from sandbar

Evans on Deansgate is best for new parts and they do price match
