  • I'm here well early too. In Blackheath but stopped for a sandwich. See you for tramp roundabout beers shortly...if I find the right roundabout!

  • blue skys in blackheath, also a nice temperature, sitting outside in short sleeves and rolled up jeans.

Super J, where are you? We are on the roundabout by the Blue race start. See you soon.

  • nice night for a ride.

    have a good one.

  • Seeing as you guys were riding past the bottom of my street in Deptford, I had to pop out for a quick look-see. I'd hoped to take photos but the ones I took were an epic fail.

Still, the guy in the lead (with a white t-shirty-type top, I think) was happy enough to give the 2-hands-in-the-air victory salute as he passed the 7 mile marker on Creek Road. It was only by half-a-bike's length but he definitely took maximum points for that stage...

EDIT: oh, and yes, a nice night for a ride!

  • It was a good night. Thanks everyone. I was very happy to have made it up Blackheath Hill, albeit on the pavement for the final section as the large vehicles were a little too close for my liking.

Going through the Limehouse Link scared me a tad but I survived :0). Docklands. Lovely at night. Crossing the finish line was pretty special too :-).

    Poots - Thanks.

Time for a fried egg sarnie and a hot chocolate before sleep.

    Next ride people!

Duuuuuude! The ride without the screams would be incomplete! It make me fell like I was chased by Sioux or Apaches men! We want ur screaming the next guinness ride also!

  • Nice ride, enjoyed the bit of pace down embankment at the end but gutted to have missed the final lights thus didn't roll in with the first 4 or 5.
Sorry I didn't wait for the end but I'd been on the bike since 0830 and was pretty tired. Glad to be home and ready to sleep well!

  • Awesome ride, although I was shitting myself when we all went the wrong way down the road at the roundabout by the Houses of Parliament!

Will hopefully have my track bike ready for the next forum ride. Cheers for organising.

The Boris Bike & Birmingham bunch (I think?) legends. I'm sure the Greenwich Peninsula is lovely at this time of year!

All in all, ace first forum ride, great to put some faces to names. Reckon I'll be out for the Guiness Ride!

  • .... I'm sure the Greenwich Peninsula is lovely at this time of year!

...Nothing quite says Marathon Ride quite like offroading on dirt tracks beyond the O2 and then hurtling through the Greenwich Tunnell... GREAT FUN :))

Thanks to all who members of the Team B(oris) crew... wasn't quite what we started off expecting the night to be, but in my opinion our crazy little adventure was such good fun it certainly made up for any initial dissapointment ;o)

~Won't be around for the Guinness trip, but am definately up for doing more rides again. Yous are a good bunch of people: so I'll be back :))

    n

ps. Looking forward to seeing the photos and also the phone tracking stats ;o))

  • This was awesome, thanks so much everyone for the craziness, the company, the laughter and of course the ride.
I was totally gearing up for a big sprint at the finish, but I had to make do with a footjam instead.
To everyone I did meet, thank you for making me feel welcome on my 3rd day in London, Vinnie, Ben, Bill, Javi.. and a few others who I forget (I'm terrible with names)
Guinness ride, So down (although I don't like guinness.. :/)

well LIAM we got a special medicine for people who dont like guinnes and it is of course x2 Guinness! muhahahhaahah....is like...drinking cheap vodka, first one is puky, second one is terrible, third is surprinsingly tasty, and 4 and 5 just goes down... hahahahaha

  • ^bump

for those who are scared to go south of the river alone, we are meeting at russell square, the corner with Woburn Place and Bernard Street. we'll stop for provisions on the way to the main meet-up

~Hey buddy, as *still *laughing that we were all waiting just across the street from eachother and neither feeder group spotted the other!! ;oD ALL GOOD.

  • Right. Not sure how useful this will be but have tried to write directions using the Virgin Marathon map....I take absolutely no responsibility for anyone following this, if the left should have been the right or whateves! See some of you later!

    1. Straight up Shooters Hill Road
    2. Left up Charlton Park Lane which becomes Ha-Ha Lane
    3. Left up Grand Depot Road/A205
      4....

    alternative directions

    1. Follow someone who knows what they're doing and make fucking sure you hold on, cause if you get dropped you're utterly lost!

So thanks to the guy in green and orange for calling the shots at the front :)

dope ride! thanks to everyone who organised.
    do a skid.

doing a rad skid at Buck Palace at the end was a good finishing flourish. other highlight was when we were really hammering it along embankment and the front pack was stretching out and we still found it in our lungs to scream and whoop as we went through a tunnel.

~Hey buddy, as *still *laughing that we were all waiting just across the street from eachother and neither feeder group spotted the other!! ;oD ALL GOOD.

ha! well i'm glad the suggestion worked insofar as you all had company for the ride to the roundabout. shame you waited around so long for that OLC chump.

Bernie - you're a star for leading the tail.

who was it that rode over the roundabout in canary wharf both times? chapeau to you sir, you get the King of the Flair jersey.

Haran - top top work kidnapping that double arrospok lad into the ride! for those who didn't know, the guy with the red Fuji, white 'spoks was talked into it by Amygdala on the way there. he didn't know about the ride OR the forum!!

Don't miss the Guninness Ride kids :)

  • The photos are up!

Sorry for the delay, but my Lightroom install broke. Photos haven't been tweaked, many need red eye filtering. Will do and re-up as soon as I get around to it.
