Mallets.
Ski poles are what have been used traditionally and now some people have started providing poles specifically for polo. The latter should last a bit longer but it's subjective.
Heads.
Traditionally yellow pipe was used, it's heavy but you can cut big holes out to make it lighter. Recently black pipe has been sourced en masse as it's lighter and doesn't need drilling, but it doesn't last longer.
Again, some people have started making specific heads for polo.

So I have some ski poles with yellow head, one with black head and the perro poles both have black head.
I'll post pictures when I get home.
