Ed, did you go for the Thorn because the SURLY LHT did not have the right geometry
I ask having also been to the Whisperer.
-
• #43228
I went for the Thorn because the entire bike cost me a mere £300, and coincidentally it's in my size.
secondly, between the Surly and the Thorn, I'd have gone for the Thorn no question asked.

I need to do a frame swap as my tourer is now way too long
But I can't find a tourer with a 54/55 tt and seat tube....Thorn looked a possiblity.

My Thorn have a sloped top tube, it have a 55cm top tube.
Thorn have a large amount of size, in different length, says an 'S' mean short - idea for drop bar, whether those with L/XL mean it's idea for flat bar.

Perks, you like the color of the frame or my house? I don't know the code for either though... it's a metallic gold paint, here's a close up, older pic...

Current state of the Roberts Tarck, and probably gonna be this way for a little while as the last remaining bits are gonna cost....
Forget the wheels and cable-tied 75's and imagine if you will, a line of 3x Royce components. One tucked between the Cranks, and two either side surrounded by Open Pro CD loveliness. ...this isn't just *Current *Projects, this is Currently sell your soul and your balls dangle closer to the knife Projects
....will also try a steeper angled stem when done. 90-100mm Black Nitto Jag anyone?

what ratio is that? looks oddly low

very nice! are those linos? DEEP!

also, seatpost looks funny - curvy =)) -

Ha, Yep finally got those Lino Drops in use. I almost dismissed them as I found a cheap secondhand Pair of Easton EC90 Track drops, but they don't suit the bike as well (too bulky being oversize) plus they work well on the Taylor bike. Was thinking about some Nitto's but i'll stick with the Lino's for now.
It's a Thomson Layback post, I have an inline i can swap around when it comes to the final bit.

the bar"tape" is inner tube :) real nice feel to it actually, but will swap it for the summer. ratio is 46/19, good for the early season legs and slush and gravel, going to 46/17 when i feel like it.
haters gonna hate.....
-

what ratio is that? looks oddly low
it's a 35.7x4^-2. wweird i know.
-
• #43249
blimey, i thought 46:18 on mine was low!i spin like crazy, or maybe its harder to spin with my cruiser bars? i don't know
inner tube is clever, i tried it but it was a 26" mtb tube that was very powdery, just didn't work

quick odd question if that's alright...
i know that the quick release levers should be on the drive side of the bike and the logo on the tire should be oposit to the valve n all that, but is there a positions the lever should be in?
yes, him.
