Nah not feeling that. VETO.

• #103
The old style blends in better with work stuff, pics and avs look better, and dark BGs are a definite no-no when it comes to text driven sites.
-
• #104
as long as we have the option of keeping the old style/colours I'm happy.
-
• #105
Exactly, I'm all up for new, and changes if in fact it brings options and solutions... the new BG and layout may in fact solve some problems, (not for me, I guess), but we should have the choice of keeping the old layout. Like a skins system, i dunno.
-
• #106
That's it exactly, from a distance this layout/colour scheme could be any pdf/spreadsheet/email/doc etc.
Stealth.
Will there be the option to keep lfgss "classic"?

I do not like the reversed out copy. It is harder to read. Black copy on white is used widely for good reason, it is easy to read.
EASIER = BETTER
The style is not an issue. But tired eyes mean less forum users and a less successful site.

I use Sublime Text 2 most of the time, and vim when editing over SSH.
You know, I think I'm going to admit defeat with the new style... I'm so close to admitting defeat. It's taken so much effort so far and only the basics are done.
vBulletin is the biggest pile of turd in the world. It's so, sooooo bad. Butchering it to try and make something cleaner is phenomenally hard to do.
And there are fundamental problems that the new style won't solve. Like the fact that it should be possible to have a filtered view of the world: If you only give a shit about Polo, then you shouldn't see anything else. If you only give a shit about Birmingham and Polo, then you shouldn't see anything else.
I am right on the edge of saying: Fuck this shit... this community has outgrown nearly every piece of software I know of.
The only thing that could cope with the size is the reddit code... but that brings problem of its own. Namely that upvoting isn't actually a useful thing for activity based discussions and that it just doesn't fit classifieds at all.
I love the elements of the new design that are in place and working, but hate the rough edges and limitations of vBulletin. My internal debate is whether to fight through the sludge and finish the vBulletin one, or just to fire up Django and to write what I believe to be the right solution once and for all (open source, inviting others to make it happen). It's a real internal struggle, but I do think the new design is a major step in the right kind of direction.
As for the grey background... it's definitely a big deal to people... I'll knock out a white background and see if that helps in the meantime.
I was at the pub last night and there was a guy there... he was like, Spanish or Italian or something, and I found myself oddly drawn to him. Something I've never felt about another man before.

It would be difficult for me to dislike the new style (grey) set up more. The apt words that come to mind are these: (maybe I should make a list.....after all its what people expect isn't it)
Loathe
Hate
Despise
Eschew
Resent
AbhorYes, I do not like it at all. As hillbilly rightly said, ***Take it away! ***

wiganwill is also correct in describing it as a chapter listing at the front of a book. It looks dead, and feels worse than necrophilia (should feel).Hideous
Awful
Nasty
Horrendous
Nauseating (though thats an exageration) -

My two pennyworth - wonder if the dislike of the coloured background isn't over tainting the comments on the substantive changes to the site itself?
-
• #111
I found it quite nauseating to read the new colours and it's even worse to scroll through, I also prefer the smaller text and larger text boxes of the old style, it just seems easier to follow.
Also the white background is far more preferable to look at while at work; from a distance it looks more like any old text.

dark backgrounds often = porn sites. Not great for looking at while at work.

In general I like it.
Velocio's first post says a white background version is easy and will come along so I'm not worried about the colours. They're kinda growing on me anyway.
Two points I would make are that it can be a bit hard to see where one post ends and another begins (this is particularly the case when viewing on my phone), and quoted text could be highlighted a bit more clearly. Overall though I like it and it is much better browsing on a phone now.

Wanted to try the new style, but didn't like it...
Is there a way to change the theme back to the old lfgss 2.0? (without having to clear all my lfgss-related cookies)
Thanks

Clear your cookies? Sometimes I hate the intermanet.

Tried it, I don't like it. Got all flustered 'cause I didn't know what was going on
-
• #119
I got trapped inside my mind and panicked, then realised it was just a forum style change, and to neither accept nor deny, that it would all be over soon, and take some vitamin c to bring it to an end....
Then I read the first post and it was fine

phew - navigated my way back to the light.
Afraid I don't think version 3.0 really provides a very good user experience.
-
• #121
No, I agree,

• #122
good - I didn't want to get banned ;)
-
• #123
I find 3.0 much more convenient for mobile browsing, so that's what I've set things to on my phone and iTouch, but sticking with what I know for desktop fun :)

Just stumbled upon 3.0. True the colours would make eyes tired but big improvement and works better on my Android and iphone. Dont give up!

I was looking round the site earlier today, and noticed a little drop down box at the bottom of the page that read "LFGSS 2.0", I changed it so that it read "LFGSS 3.0" and the whole graphic design of the site changed, what I didn't notice is this also changes how you navigate parts of the site. Basically now I want to change it back but can't find where to do it, does any one know how?
I like the fact when I click on 'user cp' it take me to the page I want to see (control panel) to see the subscribed topic.
