  • This is the postcode e9 7jh .

It's not even Hackney proper but Victoria Park. More at risk from a smash with a bugaboo than a mugger.

Watch out for De Beauvoir ... http://www.lfgss.com/thread53404.html

And, don't go along the canal as it is *extremely *dangerous. http://www.lfgss.com/thread62064.html

Best option - can we all come along in a procession?

  • An idea that could be researched whether its allowed on board is to go up to Hackney central overground and take the train to Caledonian rd then cycle it down to Kings Cross.....

Think it won't fit on an overground train ... and it will be a bit of a beast to lug up and down the stairs at Hackney Centrale and Highbury & Is.

And, would get jammed in the ticket barriers [but that's where the cattle plow would come in]

Yeh I read that, scary stuff. But it was before 8pm so i'll be fine.

If that happened with this bike it would pin me and gf and anyone else nearby to the bottom never to be seen again.

Sounds fun + going to need people to carry me after face plant tank slapper or the like.

Maybe but like splat said it prob wont fit (would have to dismantle) and those stairs WOULD be killer! + not daunted by the journey/ distance etc. Cheers though!

You're also not going through De Beauvoir. So you will be doubly fine.

This is a pretty simple walk. It will be a bit congested around Islington probably. I would mix it up by stopping at a couple of pubs (Dove in Broadway Market maybe? Royal Inn on Viccy Park? Wenclock? Look Mum? Orwell up on Essex Road [this would radically change your route]).

  • Cocktails? Is that racial slang? And are "city workers" different from none city workers then?

Cocktails is very much not a racial slang. Unless it's slang for that part of Islington fucking sucks.

And City workers (I should have capitalized City. City the noun) are like non-City workers in many ways. Except they're more douche baggy usually, and will be really drunk by that time.

  • Oh you mean the types that say things like "taking that onboard" & "moving forward". Yep I'll watch out!

  • You're lucky you will be only passing through like on some sort of safari.
    We have to leave here.

    • token grumpy disillusioned Polish old git

ps. If you struggle, give us a call - you will find the number in... phone numbers thread. If I'm not busy at the time, I can help you with that 7 seater. As long as my wife doesn't work this evening.

    Lol!
Thanks for the offer man, should be ok but taken it down just in case.

  • Trepidation towards walking through London on a lovely spring evening, but willing to call up a stranger who offers to give you a lift on the internet.

And a forrun on top of that.

  • How did it go?

Did you and your monster get back in one piece?

Are you moving to Hackney now?

  • How does canal water taste?

    Did you join a gang?

How many dead hipsters fit into your monster?

    Was Jimmy Cagney ever yellow?

  • (Jimmy Cagney was never yellow)

  • He must have survive the night in Hackney.

  • Well I was laughing at Hackney being dangerous as I have lived here in a cosy middle class cloud since 1994.

But then spotted this story about a bloke getting bike-jacked last night for his Condor in E9.
    Poor guy!

Very very close to where I live. Lame.

  • It's horrible round there. I used to squat for a bit in Homerton and hated it.

I used to commute on the train when I was there and I was sat at the station one day and this bloke rolled up and obviously saw someone else there next to me who he knew and they started chatting. Anyway, the bloke says about how his car window was broken the night before and someone had nicked his jacket and stereo but he was most pissed off about/ offended by the fact they'd left his phone! He couldn't get his head around it.

  • I live in Homerton and it is nice!

Or maybe I have lived in Hackney so long I am now an expert at editing out all the grim bits. My little kid instinctively crosses the road if he sees a dog ...

The area is now being invaded by Hackney Hipsters flocking to the sunday market.

The Hipsters even have Hipster babies.
