Hmm. Harsh.

I think the Gansta looks fine. Needs matching wheels, and the brakes sorting out, but basically fine.
If it were me, I'd go all out singlespeed CX bike with it. Reckon it'd be very solid, and lots of fun.

Think Ed's looks ok, pretty much the same as it did before really, and unbelievably good value to get the work done for £40.
Matching wheels would be good, but I quite like it (although I quite liked the orange bartape it used to have too, nice to have a bit of colour sometimes...). I'm sure it's been asked, but you're not tempted to run V's on it? I believe that there are some brake levers that are suitable for use with them?
-
• #16336
I am tempted to run V on it (the mini v that's designed for cyclocross), which would work with the road levers, the downside is that it's modulation is not as good as a decent pairs of cantis, although a mini v-brake on the rear is probably a better solution, but I did find a solution though;
And building a front wheel at the moment with Open Pro to match rear;

Build it up as a single speed CX bike. Fun and versatile. Dont use mini-V's they are shit. Full Vs and canecreek/tektro drop-bar to V-brake levers. Is a far better if somewhat ugly solution. But to be honest I cant see why you cant improve on the canti set-up somewhat. Drill the top of the seat tube maybe?
-
• #16338
Right now it's the best solution (and a 17t + 19t white industries freewheel is coming soon), I'll have a proper think about whether it's worth drilling a hole through the seat tube.

Is that a battery in the seat
mastpost? -

Can you not get a cable guide brazed onto the seatstay?

Dont drill a hole. I was being a twat. You'd need to go through the seatpost, which would feck up adjustability.
Have a cable stop brazed on the right* chainstay (as AndyP suggests), just next to the rack mount braze on. You will end up with an asymmetric canti cable bridge. But thats not an issue.
You will then have a nice clean looking canti set-up, that wont interfer with saddle bags, rack loads etc.
I'm not a fan of the Ganster as a road bike. It just seems a little overbuilt for my tastes. It would make a rocking CX style trail riding bike though. Tough and chuckable. This is really looking like potiental porn to me. So why are we discussing this here?

Hmm what about gears for that bmw? They are practical as hell.

Looks like it needs to be higher, and I was thinking right for clean cable routing from a left lever. That hand is very cool.

What are the brake levers on your bike Ed?
