The Cycle Task force are doing free marking around London Towen. I spoke them and they very kindly offered to come to my office if I can get around 10-15 bikes and riders interested which I think is very f*cking cool of them.

Found this lurking on gumtree yesterday and it is almost certainly stolen!
Just wondering if anyone was missing it?!

Had a chat with the task force chaps this morning on my way to work while they marked / registered my bike. Interesting how pro-active they're being. I was obviously very encouraging of their actions. They were well chuffed with the immediate effect of their efforts on Brick lane but were all to aware that they needed to stay on it and cast their nets much further to slow this shit down significantly.
I pointed out that I was pleased that the attitude was changing towards the importance of bike crime in London. My only complaint... the feckin great red sticker I'm supposed to attach to my beloved frame to notify thieves / police that it's registered. Bit mugly!

Did you suggest spoke cards/polo disc/ltd edition rad decals as alternatives? :)

My bike got stolen yesterday (24th) at New Cross Train Station. Must have been between 9.20 am and 7.30 pm. It's an old Raleigh road bike, colour: brown/bronze, black Avenir saddle, fairly large frame (58). Nothing fancy really but it was perfect for my daily commuting and more. so, in case you see some bastard riding it pls let me know. cheers!

Does the head of the Met now have to suffer the ignominy of spending the £100 voucher in your shop?

Druid Cycles in Southwark have suffered a break-in:
We did have a big break-in last morning at 1am (according to security footage from 1ststorage). We know the thieves are local from the Bermondsey area.
About 15 bikes have been stolen, all our brand new spare parts, track pumps, welder, angle grinder, drills etc. We are basically left with nothing to resume our repair work for the local community.
We will post the pictures of the stolen bikes and believe, they will be offered for sale shortly and most likely at Nine Elms market on sunday.
If anybody can help us out with tools, that is the most impotrtant problem at the moment. Please bring down any tool donations you have and if you see our Druid Cycles bikes, please call us and 999 straight away.
Tthank you all for your kind co-operation.
Bbest regards
ThorFrom the Southwark Cyclists mailing list.

More txt from the Druid cycle theft:
hello all LCC members, Druid Cycles has lost approx. £10K in that burglary. This season we have planned to sponsor women MTB rider and Nepal champion Nirjala Tamrakar. This theft leaves us with empty pockets and we appeal to all LCC members yo support us with tools (any), old spare parts, old bikes or bring your bikes to us for your spring service / clean-up, that we can make up the loss quickly. We do same day repair service and our prices are very low in comparison to other bike shops. We also accept cash donations towards sponsorshop for Nirjala Tamrakar, to give her the opportunity to race in Germany and the UK. she needs to collect UCI points to get a chance as an outsider, to compete at the Olympics next year. Please go to our website www.druidcycles.co.uk for more information or simply come to our shop for a chat. Everybody is welcome and we have the most unique bicycle workshop in London. wishing you all the best and don't forget LCC members get from us a 10% discount on repairs and if they order from us a customized bicycle. thor and the druid team

don't want to sound insensitive but doesnt druid cycles have insurance?
-
• #6047
as above, anyone rolling without insurance shouldn't be rolling at all. A loss sucks, but a business will be insured in some form or another, or maybe they are after bits so that they can work right now. Being involved in a bike shop insurance nightmare, its not fun, it drags on for months and despite being spot on book the insurance co left us with a gap between what they were offering and the true cost of the loss, i.e. labour hours lost due to no shop to use! That was down to the fact the insurance deal on the shop was a very very basic one.

So having a pint in the Shakespear Pub on Allen Road in Stoke Newington. Check my bike all good and go back in to get my girlfriend come out 5 mins later and my brooks saddle is gone. Its the Brooks Swift Chrome in Honey with a bit of wear on the nose of it and a few scratches around the edges. I know there is probably no hope of getting it back but need to vent my frustration. So pissed off and there was loads of people sitting outside the pub. anyways if anyone gets offered it around stoke newington then please let me know. its a long shot but worth a try.
more annoyed about the fact that my girlfriend (who isnt a big cyclist) put alot of research into buying it for me and feel shit for her.
anyways just in case, i will go down to brick lane on saturday with hope to see it. need to find out if there is a serial number. the one time i forgot to bring an allen key this happens.

was down at aldi getting some meat & processed cheeses (nom nom nom) and a young guy pulls up on a recent high end trek. Cable lock thru the trolley rack and then round just one fork leg.
In the que at the till I pointed it out to him, he didn't understand, and seemed offended at why I was looking at how to steal his bike. Walking out I held back then offered to show him, by this stage I couldn't tell if he was pissed off or intrigued. Anyways, upto the bike, front wheel off, didn't even need to flick off brakes, slide the lock off, wheel back on.
Apparently thats how he's always locked his bike up, this one and previous and never had a problem. Thats pretty much down to the fact this is a rural area and if anything gets nicked its almost sure to be liverpool/manc'land who come up for a few days on burglarizing sprees.Hopefully he paid enough attention to work out that method of locking was bad news. Didn't get any thanks though.

yo, some retarded motherfucker stole my bars (black easton ea30, cut down), stem(no name silver 110mm), grips (lizard skin), brake lever (dirt harry), cable, topcap and bolt last night on clerkwell road. and didn't take the forks or front wheel, what a dumb fuck.
not expecting them to turn up but if you spot them on some asses bike ring up clockwork couriers 02077296169 and say you have a motherfuckin' double rush especially for 56 to whereever this punk ass bitch is so i can make them feel some god damn justice.
huh, photo of frame number, never thought of that! gonna do it right now.
have photo of bike, and frame number logged with Immobilise, but it's in a funny place so easy to miss - I once had a copper tell me my frame number had been filed off.
...
...
are you implying this is a stolen bike?
*I don't think so * >:[
