Bump
I have the exact same model as the bike in this thread: http://www.lfgss.com/thread44533.html
I am thinking of buying these Sugino RD2 messenger chainsets: http://www.velodromeshop.org.uk/index.php?p=product&id=634
I was wondering if this bottom bracket would be compatible for the bike: http://www.velodromeshop.org.uk/index.php?p=product&id=833
Many thanks in advance! Sorry for the bump but I can't post new threads yet.

I am not sure if I can actually get those parts for any cheaper. If anyone knows that would be really useful!

Here's my Peagoet frame, I got it really cheap! However the only drawback is that someone has sprayed it and therefore iv no idea how old it is or were it comes from?
The BB is still solid as ever, it says 'made in France' in it, so I assume its the french kind, lol.
It works fine and I intend to keep the whole set up including the 52 chainring.
I have new handle bars and front brake lever on there way.
The only problem I have is the wheels. I have no idea were to look for my back wheel and chainring, or my fron wheel. I no this can be the most expensive part and am willing to pay £100 for the both of them.
Is this realistic and if so, can anyone suggest any wheels including chainring, from the images that iv posted?
Im looking for a fixed rear, no need for flip-flop either....just straight up fixed! Thanks in advance

Remove the LHS cup (anti-clockwise, normal thread) and see if you can servive that BB first, if it is an adjustable 3-piece type.

that would appear to fit. those cranks and BB are compatible with each other.
i would assume the threading for the bottom bracket would be english threading, however i cant be sure as i am not 100% for that frame. you can probably tell if you have a look on the non drive side and see which ways the threads go. english threading would have a reverse thread on the non drive side. -

turn it over, look at the bottom bracket shell and it SHOULD have the model code stamped on the shell.
the wheels i would imagine would just be a standard 700c wheel. read the tyre wall to confirm.
ebay would be your best betyou can pick up a new rear sprocket for <£10

If the bottom bracket doesn't fit what do I do?
-
• #661
Hey,
The links don't seem to be working.
On the bottom backet the dimensions you need to know to check it's right for your frame are...
- the width of the bottom bracket shell. Normally 68mm
- the thread of type inside the bottom bracket shell. English or Italian
I think this frame is a Peugoet PB14 - but i'm sure there's more Peugeot experts here that can confim.
http://www.velobase.com/Velos/ViewModel.aspx?ID=154434F6-3254-4D4B-B4F5-D890964C0D88&Enum=202&AbsPos=3&SearchID=fffb9076-54d4-41f4-9e1b-475bc110fa98&PgOffset=0http://velospace.org/node/31890
So i think you need a 68m English thread bb, but if there's a bottom bracket already in the frame you're replacing it might have markings to suggest the model or dimensions.
Pretty satandard though.
Also, you can get differnt types of tapers and lengths for the bb axles.
The length of the axles will affect your chainline
and the tapers are either ISO of JIS type so you just need to check both will fit. Here's more info:

what do you mean doesnt fit? is the thread wrong, is it the wrong diameter? need to be more specific
easiest way is to follow this guide:
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#bottomif it doesnt fit, you need to find what type will fit and buy that one. i cant help much more without more information. good luck

Ah thanks for the info! Would you by any chance know how much the frame itself weighs?
-

Having owned a few of these pugs, I would suggest that the 'Carbolite' sticker is erroneous and should read carboheavy.
As for the bottom bracket, it could be Swiss if the fixed cup has a groove around it, otherwise, English. -
• #665
My frame has a ''Mangalloy HLE'' sticker on it. I tried searching around the net to check the weight but I can't seem to find it.

you can use a singlespeed kit (must take the cassete out) and than you can use the same BB.
here you can see it working
my peugeot (not with "her" back wheel but with a mavic one with a singlespeed kit)it's not the perfect look of a singlespeed but i think it's the less expensive one.

hello, sorry for being lazy and not looking around, i'm getting a carbolite frame soon and i was hoping some one could help me out with magic ratios?
its this frame, i got hold of a larger frame and we are swapping
getting inpatient and planning my build already...
-
• #668
magic ratio? it got horizontal dropout, just take one link out.
-
• #669
that doesn't always work though?
i'm just getting the frame, will have my own parts, i want a normal chain with no half links
-
• #670
Can I have the half link chain if you don't want it then?
-
• #671
i'm just getting the frame
we are only swapping the frames, bb, seat post and headset
-
• #672
1st try it. Almost certainly it'll be fine. Buy a £2 half link if you feel the rear axle isn't sitting exactly where you want it.
You'll find a half link in your LBS if your lucky, or online at SJS Cycles or similar.
Chains made up entirely of half links are for BMXs.
-
• #673
i got some half links around, but i want a magic ratio with no half links
-
• #674
It's not 'magic' unless you got lucky on a horizontal dropout frame.
-
• #675
i guess no one knows
yeah i have a 70s/80s peugeot frame. english thread too. im using a 102mm (tifosi) BB and a double campy record chainset. second hand off ebay. think i only spent £30 on it. a few gems surface on ebay once in a while
