I just checked i think that is a just a release mark , it's caused by surface oil that is present to get the ball out of the mold . The wall is still a uniform thickness .
I don't know what wizardry you are talking of, but the ball does have an inconsistency in the wall at the "bobble" part. You can see it in profile and you can feel it when you draw your finger across it (I love fingering balls).
That being said, I'm sure it'll be fine. Balls get chewed up (I love chewing balls) pretty quickly anyway.
