Well all access to Camberwell Green was closed via Oval, had to go via E&C so definately something going on.
This was at 8:40

Cycled past earlier with Josh. It seemed like a motorcyclist being questioned and a pedestrian down. No signs of a cyclist.

That spot was all clear at 8:20, but not surprised it happened, like Gatti says the traffic was mental today, solid all the way from Atlantic Road to Kennington. The North part of Kennington Road was deserted, but everyone was going nuts trying to turn left off it into Kennigton Lane, driving on the wrong side of the road to get round.

There was another accident on Acre lane this morning - I went through at about 9:40 and there were like 4 cop cars, 3 ambulances and 3 fire trucks, it didn't look like a cyclist but there was a blue sheet being held up and pedestrians talking about internal bleeding?. The traffic was horrendous today.... but that'll explain why if there were 2 accidents in the same area within about an hour of each other.

Quoted from facebook;
'avoid driving through brixton high street this morning. I just saw a tramp get his head caved in by a lorry.'

OOoofff. Lovely.... :(

EDIT, This might actually be completely unrelated

Yes this is unrelated - this isn't the location I was talking about. Even so, horrible thing to happen.

ah, that's the one I saw this morning. Shame if that article is true. There was a helicopter flying around that looked like it was trying to land near the Ritzy, it's a really busy junction, especially just after school time with all the kiddies running around. Scary...
Any more news on the accident up Brixton Road?

Yes, pedestrian fatality, according to Lambeth Council leader
http://twitter.com/cllrstevereed
(Lambeth Town Hall just on the corner of Brixton Road / Acre Lane) -

damn. sad news. the tramp/lorry report is entirely plausible then :(

• #13
Update suggests it was a cyclist, either way a tragedy. RIP

I went past Acre Lane/Brixton Road at about 1pm and the blue tent was still up, still a police riot van there, still cornered off with crowds gathered. Pretty bad. And yes, it does look as though it was a cyclist. RIP.
(Still no clearer on the Brixton Road accident though) -

thoughts and prayers for the riders, their family and friends.

Anyone else saw the rider down at the corner of nine elms and wandsworth road this morning? I was waiting at the lights going towards vauxhall bridge when i heard a big BANG, the rider of a motorbike rode into the side of a mountain biker who apparently jumped a red, both riders went down, i was one of the first on the scene, at about 8:20 this morning, police was quickly on the scene, the cyclist was in pain receiveing first aid from one of the officers, and the other office was talking to the other rider and talking to witnesses
I left before the ambulance arrived, as the police had things under control, the cyclist was in pain and this bike was nearly "folded" in half - any news on that? -

Sounds like it deserves its own thread. Post it up or ask the moderators to promote your posting to a new thread.

I've been so confused by this thread over the past 24 hours. From initial reports it seems there were two incidents; one on Brixton Road, as reported by LittleHeather which by the sounds of things doesn't involve a cyclist.
Further down, however, there are the links to the collision outside Lambeth Town Hall (the 'tramp being hit by a lorry'). At first it was thought this was a pedestrian-only collision, and then the update by the local Guardian rag didn't help as the caption in their photo said it was a cyclist, but their article made no reference to it.
This morning Ross Lydall, who is head hack at the ES, tweeted this story;
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23934655-two-cyclists-are-killed-by-lorries-in-crashes-on-londons-roads.do
I askem him to double check as the local rag had been unclear and he said; "thanks but Scotland Yard press bureau this morning pretty sure it was a cyclist"It would seem then that we lost two cyclists in one day to lorries in south London. I am just too shocked / furious / upset for words.

Also just saw that, well done for following up. The articles were confusing.

Couldn't agree more.

Chilling to the core
Absolutely gutted, heart goes out to the families of all concerned.
What the hell can we do to stop this?

Evening standard now reporting this as a pedestrian, not a cyclist:
9am - Anyone know of the accident on Brixton Road, just along from the Lambeth Accord building, outside the petrol station/tesco metro?
All I can see is an ambulance and police and a motorcyclist being questioned, but apparently there was a cyclist involved.
