I need a little geared help please, is there going to be a huge difference (top speed wise, I know it will give me a better low range) between running the following:
48-36 up front with a 12-25 cassette
and
44-32-22 up front with an 11-25 cassette
Thanks very much.
I need the extra range of a triple, but don't want to loose spin out a full whack. Will the extra 1t on the cassette go much way to making up for the loss of 4t up front?
Have you considered a 'trekking triple' 48-36-26' it would give what you already have but with a 26t granny ring.
A) who needs a 22t unless they're doing some hardcore off-roading.
B) the 36t chainring is far more usable than a 32t (IMHO).
I actually use 48:11 quite a lot. So would go for the 11-25 as well.
