You have options like the underpass on Devas St/Twelvetrees Crescent at Bromley, or the rather difficult Tredegar Rd/Wick Lane bridge, but both are too much of a detour. A bike/pedestrian bridge at Bromley High St would be better.

Well, we'll see more E-W crossings of the Lower Lea Valley re-established post-Olympics, but you're right, there ought to be more. Cycling in Newham is severely constrained partly because of the lack of decent routes west.
