• eBay prefer that the parties resolve the issue themselves.

If a dispute is raised PayPal will likely take the funds from your account until a decision is made.

Talk to the buyer and keep correspondence civil as you can then send that to eBay to support your case.

How much money are we talking?

Will a discount make you and the seller happy?

Whatever the outcome you can still receive negative feedback.

    Good luck!

it was a bike frame that had some rubbing/grinding to the chainstay. and it went for £102.

i fully explained the damage and it was clear in the picture. they asked no questions on the damage or asked for closer pics. they also say that they have had the frame looked at by a structual engineer "friend" and a bike shop who state "it is too dangerous to ride and it will fail at some point"

i find this odd as i have been riding it for 7 months daily as a commuter with no issues whatsoever.

i have not replied to them yet as i wanted some advise first. i am not fussed about feedback as i have good history and this wont effect it.

  • I'm curious: i won and paid for an item on Sunday afternoon worth £850!
(a nice bike of course :) What's starting to worry me is that I have not
    heard from them at all.

I send a polite email yesterday asking if they could just confirm that the
money had reached their account... nothing in return.

Am i being impatient? I would think it just good manners to at least
acknowledge the sale within 24hrs? especially as the money has been paid.

  • It depends on the seller, some give a fuck about customer service, some don't.

  • For sure!
Hoping it's just a minor problem their end as they have 100% feedback??

i usually try to communicate with the seller at least three messages (ofcourse the first two should get any reply if things going normal). third message should be contain some warnings that you might bring that as a "dispute" to ebay resolution. all messages are in a week period.

if after a week you still dont get any reply than dispute the seller, ebay/paypal should pay your money back

  • Repost from Memes thread.

    Bloody good though.

  • pretty sure that was in the win or fail or memes thread

  • Christ, nothing gets missed on this here forum. Sorry about that. Worth a second look though?

  • totally worth a second look.
it's not REALLY going for £3k though, is it?

  • It is for charidee, mate!

  • yeeeeeeah i'm schtoopid i just finished reading the whole thing ... so funny though

  • im on the other side of this situation^^^ sort of.

sold two jerseys over the weekend. but stupidly fckd up with bid winners and ended up sending the wrong jersey to the wrong person. now both jerseys are on their way to the states.

now the buyer that missed out is being a bit of a pain. ive already sent them a message and my apologies and have given them a refund. but they are demanding that i get the jersey back somehow and pass it over to them. like i said it's on its way to the states and doubt that ill get it back due to the costs of postage. hardly worth it for all parties.

so it's either they get the jersey back or a neg feedback. honest fck up on my part but do i deserve a neg feedback for that? dont give a sht really more of an annoyance. it's them being a buy-and-sell business that annoys me. all this for a £10 jersey.

  • You fucked up, for the buyer this is a negative. Thats what the system is there for.

    Thats life etc etc

I've never had negative feedback as a seller on eBay, but from what I have seen of feedback provided is that the seller is able to respond publicly. If it comes to the buyer leaving bad feedback, respond professionally, explaining the issue and that you tried your best to resolve it and select the option for eBay to show your response publicly on your feedback profile/page/whatever. (I'm not sure if eBay does this by default anyway...)

  • The whole new eBay feedback system is bare jokes.
You are at the mercy of some stingy cunts who will give you a negative feedback for the delivery being a day too late even if it's free.

  • sorted now. i think.

dont mind if i get a neg feedback if my fck up really warrants it. dunno, i see neg feedback in a diff degree. e.g. not paying, not posting, false description, etc.

now the buyer denied my request to cancel the transaction (so that ebay can refund me the fees) which i thought was a bit petty. what have they got to gain by denying the request? transaction never happened they didnt get the item but they got their money back. pricks. they're now saying that 'i should be doing everything in my power to get the jersey back as i am in a legally binding contract' and even suggested to get the buyer in the states to send it direct to them. good luck to that.

anyway, been in contact with ebay. got my fees refunded and have given me the ok to ignore any other msgs from them as the case is now considered to be closed.

  • What's the name of the business, I seem to remember another member here had a similar issue with a cycling jersey seller...

    #stirring

  • I sold someone a phone that got smashed in the post, refunded her as soon as she took a photo to prove it to me, before she even sent it back and she still left me negative feedback. Bitch.

  • i've bought something from ebay (a shirt) and i reckon it's fake. i've contacted the seller who claims it's 100% authentic but i believe this to be bollocks. Can I report this to ebay and get a refund? I dont think I should have to pay postage back to the states

  • Was it too good to be true when you purchased it though? Chances are it was a fake.

  • 'buy it now' fees going up as of next month http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201106.shtml#2011-06-21095832

not really, was still 40 squid and ralph lauren is way cheaper in the states. should of known so much moody ralph floating about, but still i want to nail this guy, you cant get away with setting up a business on ebay peddaling fake ralph, he's selling tons of the stuff.

    I will report to ebay.......

  • There's loads of shops selling fake stuff though. But if he sold it as 100% genuine then there's a problem. Also what makes you think that the product is fake in the first place?
