The pressure limit on clincher rims is all about the limitations of the rim/tyre hook interface rather than problems with the rim itself, no ?
Thats a fair point. But I do think clincher rims can be deformed slightly by high tyre pressure. Would'nt take more than a mm or so to loose the tyre. Tubular rims dont have a thin side wall, perpendicular to force direction, to worry about.
My point was that tyres and rims are'nt doing the same job, and they certianly dont have the same requirements.
