Good night, lovely calm riding through the mist. Glad I had the gears as I tried to keep up with the rest of you. Nice talking to des who kept me company for most of the journey at the back of the pack. Thanks to tim (tiles) for the manhandling of those fucking campag rims. The sooner they see the sight of someone else's bike the better.
Think I enjoy climbing in the dark, as the only clue you have to how steep it is, are the lights off in the distance in front and above you windin away, so it's just head down and grind away. Almost made it over whitedown, but was riding all drunk at the last and only just above walking pace so stepped off walked about fifty to a hundred meters and low and behold the crest was there. Next time I'll just sit in and get there.
Was a great introduction to tnrc, see you all in two weeks hopefully, got some work on so will have to figure out an exit strategy.
And ben sometimes the eagerness to get back on the road makes the best of us stupid.
