Spency's thinking ahead. There's going to be more summer, dicki. My bones are telling me this.

• #753
I am so up for another one of these regardless of dodgy summer weather or not
-
• #754
I hope your bones are right Skully!

I'm well up for something along these lines. Wouldn't mind doing the exact same trip. Campsite was pretty good for us, lots of room so (most) people couldn't hear the high spiritedness of our campfire.

• #756
we need a sound proof campsite
-
• #757
OR a ban on boorish behaviour.
-
• #758
we won't need the soundproof campsite then

It'd be awesome to do a list for equipment for communal use for sharing out as you were talking about Skully, save on some weight and make friends as we go :)
I have much camping equipment I'd more than happily share out for communal use and communal carrying as there's no way i can or want to carry it all myself.
e.g. Petrol camping stove
Camping plates, mugs, cutlery pans, pots etc

Yeah, there was definately a lot of duplication of stuff. It's be good to try to cook as communally as possible too, but that might require large dixies which could be a problem ... unless we get Andrea to carry loads of stuff on his awesome steed!
-
• #761
... the same could be said for tools, pumps and the like, why carry 12 pumps for 12 people? No need for that if we're going to stay together.
-
• #762
Yep I'd happily take some of the stuff, with 60L + Pannier space.
Only thing is I'd need a place to kip in London the night before since I'm a Norfolk boy.

You slag.
I've plenty of room dude, you can always crash with us.
We need to get talking about when and where!
-
• #764
Superb let's get some plans laid down then!

Yeah, definitely. I think communal cooking and a big booze surplus would've made this easier/more fun.
I wonder if Cheesecake still has his mad BikeBQ?

I think it does something different and equally strange now, but I could be wrong. Different destination this year? You could show us the wonders of Norwich Sparky. Strongly tempted to load my bike up with tree climbing kit on the off chance we stop for lunch/camp in a wooded glade. Got enough kit to get 2 people safely up a tree, downside is it's around 25kg of kit which would fuck me up on top of camping gear, especially if we did brighton again.
I propose a slightly shorter(50miles ish) ride to the campsite along a slightly flatter route and a group ride back the next day. I was too hungover/tired/knackered for the ride back last year but a shorter ride on the first day would be bang up my street. But then again I am quite lazy.Good call on kit sharing. Additional list?
- Edmundro - Kelly kettle(2pint) and large trangia set. NO tent though.

Give Soutwold a try
The campsite is a relaxed one, you don't get Tent V Caravan wars.
It is however, a few mile N of Dunwich.
Trains go from Liverpool street. If free I would drive.

Southwold ... Nah no trees, windy as fuck, probably not allowed fires. And a nightmare getting loads of people there by train. Last years was a good distance.
I'd be tempted to do this.
have you had a look outside ?
