Frankly, a two speed derailleur would've been better than a double crankset, if you're that worried about budget, I'd just go for a 1x8 (or 9/10) set-up.

not about budget, just want to keep it visually as clean as possible, which is never easy with gears.
BUT yeah, I'll probably go for 2x8 or 2x9, the frame deserves it.
