  • Current projects>bike porn recently. Nice stuff going on.

  • ^^Wow, does look really good teome.. Nice brazing, really like it!

Cheers Rodolfo, it's looking good and much better without paint and showing the fillet brazing. The frame seems to be well made and I should have it on the road by Monday.

  • Hoping to finish this off over the weekend.
Picked up this frame a couple of weeks ago and I've been working on it whenever I've had the chance. Unknown maker but was said to be a british builder around late 70's, light and thin tubing, campag dropouts and wishbone stays suggests decent tubing.

White spirit to take off the black spray can job didn't show any decals so I used paint stripper

After a hell of a lot of polishing with 600, 1000 wet and dry, then 0000 wire wool, then two coats of lacquer

    [![](http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd488/teome_/WIshbone%20Frame/th_DSCN5652.jpg)](http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd488/teome_/WIshbone%20Frame/?action=view&current=DSCN5652.jpg)

Building up now for fixed with as much silver/chrome as possible. Probably slowly buy 2nd hand bits for a groupset and run it as a 10 speed.
Does anyone have any idea of the maker or period.

How long did that take you?

  • How long did that take you?

It's hard to say but a lot longer than I thought it would. I had to do it in 3-4 hour blocks and it took me about a week and a half including all the polishing at the end. There were 6 coats of paint stripper needed and since there were no decals in the pink paint I am guessing it was armourtex but I could be wrong. Between each coat of pain stripper was a lot of elbow grease with different implements to get it off

I'm pleased I did it, by don't try it when you need something quickly. If you have the time though, you can do it quicker than sending it off to be painted. I need to get it finished quickly because I have to build up the white track frame in the background and train on it before Friday.

  • Sunday best and also for light touring duties:

  • Dolan is all finished bar the bartape.

Pretty close to the 5.5kg I was aiming for :-)

  • Pics of the whole bike or it didn't happen

  • Weightweenies is that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Dolan is all finished bar the bartape.

Do you have a list of all the parts and their weights? [/geek]

  • heavy saddle

  • strange!!! i have a similar saddle but mine only weight 230g
    :)

  • I have 3 current projects, all beaters, all for family members... this is the only 'nice beater' of the 3, and it's nearly finished. Bought off the forum, I've serviced her and added Deore LX rear mech and Deore levers and SRAM 9 speed cassette that I had lying around, some old brake levers, as well as some old MTB wheels that had just come off another bike that I was upgrading. Just needs a new front mech, a bit of wheel truing and maybe different rear brake blocks because they honk like a very honky thing and send (quite pleasant actually) vibrations throughout the entre bike / saddle.

you need to toe the pads in.

  • Is this better in terms of the rules Dov?

It looks great. Is that the Lampre team one?

  • Sun was out today so I took a few pics on it before the first ride...
Frame is DAMP Barbarossa with full Dura Ace (except the BB and stering combo) and Columbus Zona tubing.

thats really lovely. full DA and that rear bridge just makes it something extra special

  • List yes, weights no, my digital scales broke half way through the build.

    Seta frame
EC90 SL fork (SLX is a bit flexy at my weight)
Reynolds recon wheels, aircomp ultralight tubes, corsa CX tyres
FSA carbon track cranks on Stronglight twister titanium bb, da 46t 3/32nd ring
Bontrager xxx lite stem, fsa energy bars
    EC90 seatpost, slr saddle
ultegra pedals, condor 17t 3/32 cog, da lockring, sram 8sp chain

  • ^ did you use 3/32 becouse of the weight?

    love the wheels ;)

  • Very noice....all black..

  • Dolan is all finished bar the bartape.
Pretty close to the 5.5kg I was aiming for :-)

I have those Betterware luggage scales. Dont think they're WW certified. They seem to think my Bob Jackson is 7.25Kg, and my Longboard steel 29er is 8.4kg.

Pretty sure its lying to me. Its lying in the right direction though.

  • thats really lovely. full DA and that rear bridge just makes it something extra special

    Thanks!

Actually the rear triangle was suppose to be chrome and the rear bridge red.
Unfortunately the place that did it missed that part.

Might chrome it later on and get a richer red color...

  • There are WW certified scales?!

Dov- yep, got the pack with matching saddle and bar-tape.

  • Just got myself this 90s Cannondale 62cm road frame with the typical smoothed welds, for a mere 64 pounds (75 eur) on the german ebay. The seller has already stripped the paint but could not find the time to go on with the project:

This was a really spontaneous buy, I'm quite surprised I actually found this, so, as I already own a very classic tarrck bike, this is meant to become a kind of everyday beater.

I am unsure about the direction of this, what I already know is that this will get deeper rims and will generally be a bit more riser/fun-like than my track.
It should also have gears, I could either do a full 2x9 setup, or maybe no gears front and just 5 or 6 at the back? or a tensioner and no gears at the back, but 2 at the front?

And, powder coat or polish it up?

    What do you think?

  • I don't like seeing unused braze-ons so i'd say 2x9 gears and a nice metallic blue as found on the track 'dales

  • I love steel without any paint but aluminium needs a paint job, darkish blue-grey imho. 2x9 too

  • You could SS it with a tensioner. Or even hub gear the bitch

  • ...or a tensioner and no gears at the back, but 2 at the front?
    What do you think?
i don't think you could get that to work. chain length could be a problem.
