this arrived in the post yesterday (sorry Melon...) and I am getting my head round a build. I am thinking about going for Truvativ Omniums as I think they will suit the frame and they are meant to be super stiff. However I have heard reports of crank slap on frames with thicker chain stays. The Hinde frame has mahusive stays. They are rectangular though, so maybe they will be thinner then an oval of the same size, hmm.
any thoughts or advice for better cranks?
I'm curious about to see this built up. You can't find too much coverage of this bike on the internet right now...
Omniums would suite the look of the frame, The problem with the omniums is that the spider arms are quite thick and touch the chainstays and not the ring or the bolts. Often you can file the arms down a bit too make them fit, maybe they have covered the issue on the newer cranks. Also watch out that you get the new 2011 SRAM team bb which is way better than the old one.

I was contemplating a Hinde pista for a while - you can add me to the list of people curious to see it built up. How did you find dealing with them? The internet seems to be full of horror stories...

Dealing with Dave Hinde and co was a pleasure. I called up a couple of times for info, they were happy to tell mew the weight of the frame and forks, and talk to me about the headset that they included. Top notch guys.

I'm trying to convert my Peugeot Premiere racer into a single speed or fixie at the moment. I'm new to this so I'm not really too sure on what I need to do completely haha
For now, I bought a new back wheel but I think I still need a chain and a new crankset. My bike is also quite rusty so I would like to get a new paintjob on it if it's not too expensive!

^Armourtex http://www.armourtexltd.co.uk/ for a paint job i think it s like 60 quid
the crankset you have on there should be fine, aesthetically you could lose a chainring but this is just a guess as there is no picture -

Inspired by phasergunalex i went looking for a decent similar kind of bike, my only niggle is the wheels, would prefer S-S and lighter ones, don't know if bmx wheels will work or not
Pump, and chainguared off but i may keep that box thing, sure come in handy, I'm thinking charge bucket saddle or similar, then new paintjob, odyssey griswald grips(sooo comfy) clips and straps to, not sure which ones yet
Sorry about crappy pics
