In for Saturday. Excited and unfit.
-
• #1010
Yep, I may well be in for this Due to lack of experience and huge unfitnss, I am going for basic training, unless someone who knows me thinks that is bonkers?
-
• #1011
Presumably induction and beginners will also begin this Saturday? I can't imagine the turnout being great this time of year.
-
• #1012
What time does it all start?
I presume it's the normal structure:
Induction
Novice
Intermediate & ExperiencedIf so what time does the "Intermediate & Experienced" session kick off? No point in me rushing there to early.

• #1014
Intermediate training 10-12
Then induction session, then novice training. -

No that's from <2009.
Experienced is Sundays
Look on the website for details, but it's 1000 for intermediates, then induction is at 1200 followed by basic training at 1245. -

Would like to do another induction as I'm still not track-confident, but having done one already a while back means I'll be allowed out on the intermediates beforehand, right?
#playing the systemHow many basic training session have you ridden?
You need to do some of those following induction before going up to intermediate unless the lead coach says otherwise. Judging by your comments you need to do some basic sessions to gain confidence, what we don't want is the intermediate session being swamped with novices who should be riding at 1245 and/or experts who should be riding on Sundays and racing! TBF the experts should know how to conduct themselves but less skilled riders riding up has caused problems which is why the old system was changed.

I did a few Saturdays, raced at the Dulwich v Phoenix track day and eventually managed to get around to appearing at a Monday session. Promptly to be beaten by a 12 year-old in the devil. Tactically, mind; I had the legs to beat him... /still sore

Sounds like you will be fine in the intermediates then.

experts who should be riding on Sundays and racing
Not this Sunday though, right?
-
• #1020
Depends if you are a sprinter who has an optimistic outlook on the weather
-
• #1021
As I'm clearly not an intermediate I'm not allowed to run on Saturday... So what is the deal? Are we training on Sunday? Or should I just put my bike away for a few more weeks?
:-)
-
• #1022
Train on saturday but don't rip people's legs off, or turn up sunday.
-
• #1023
Rip peoples legs off??? In March? I've done less than 500miles since August last year.
:-)
I'd come play on Sunday... tho I don't think the wife would approve as it's our wedding anniversary.

TBH Adam, sounds like you need to do an induction. Now, have you ever ridden fixed wheel before?
-

Saturday intermediate training is 'controlled'. We want to encourage the intermediates, so any 'racing' will be restricted to maybe the last 3 laps of a particular session so that everyone feels that they have been involved, worked hard and had a good time (rather than having had their legs ripped off after 2 laps by some fast, experienced riders!)
Should be fine, test them: if you can push any part of the tub off the rim with your fingers then they need re-gluing! If unsure ask one of the coaches.
