1 vote for a new thread entitled 'other rides' or similar and a mod to move all this rubbish out. Poor Teddy & Jacqui.

Yes please.
This is boring and depressing. -

More cool cats - less angry cats, please.
Shenanigans can organise a ride whenever and wherever in whichever fabric she chooses, but "the alternative tweed ride" would have been a bit cheeky/disrespectful.

Someone put loadsa work in the whole "Tweed Run" brand. Give them some credit and do not rip them off.

Mate, that was the whole point. I'm pretty confident that Tweed Run LLP haven't been put off doing further good work, and that people keen to organise other rides also won't feel scared of doing so. Either would be a real shame, cos we need more not less and volunteers aren't that common.

Right. Let's change the direction this thread has taken.
What will everybody's personal theme be?
I'm torn between Tyrolean tourist and Louche Sportsman. Knitted tank top is in the post, and I'm battling somebody on ebay for a set of lovely plus fours.

Liking the Tyrolean tourist angle.

Lucy, please dress up like him.
especially the short;

Apparently there might be a 'micro trend' in the Tyrolean look, and I heartily approve.
AS you well know, ed, lederhosen are perfect for cycling. I'm commissioning a pair from Rapha as we speak.
Very, very short lederhosen...Guaranteed to make you yodel.

Turtle neck and lederhosen instead of shorts!

Before I met him I was really impressed by the way CoppiThat was dressed at the tweed run. Then I realised he kind of dressed like that all the time, the dapper lad.

I have been considering a "gone native in the colonies" theme involving a military tweed jacket and some sort of a dhoti but must confess to being swayed by your Tyrolean ideas.
I suspect my tash will be the governing factor.

Wow. Just catching up on this.
Amazing work Teddy and Jacqui! I hope the weather is as glorious for you this year as it was last year. Hopefully this will help change more attitudes toward cyclists and organised cycling events, especially amongst those that make you operate under such heavy restrictions.
As the expression goes, it takes years of hard work to become an overnight success. Massive congratulations.

I want to find a tailor to butcher an old tweed jacket into a cycling gillet, hopefully using the sleeves as pockets.
Any suggestions?

I'd love to do a modern take on the twee(d) thing, my bike is really not right for the full vintage malarky.

I love that idea! Why not have a word with Teddy for suggestions?
Lordy what a mess.
