KiwiMike, as posted previously best you speak to Jacqui and Teddy about this situation. I posted up my position both here and on facebook, Shenanigans can organise a ride whenever and wherever in whichever fabric she chooses, but "the alternative tweed ride" would have been a bit cheeky/disrespectful.
Like I said the forum exists in its own little bubble most of the time, and if you stay here long enough, you'll see that for yourself. I'm kind of past defending it at this point. Either its for you and you stay, or its not and you don't.
Look forward to seeing you at the tweed run, or any other forum ride you decidde to step out on, I'd suggest the bridges ride end of march, usually a good 'un.
