This, at Cambridge, with London doing the swiss rolls. :)
This is probably the easiest/best option.
Ideally it would be one day (I think getting shit faced, sleeping in the cold for a couple of hours, waking up hung over, does not make for ideal conditions for athletes of our standard). Depending on how many people want to "have a go," though, it could be impossible (on the flip side, if there are not that many teams, round robin could work). For accurate seeding with, say, 30 teams, 5 rounds with no draws would work (but 6 will make a more accurate mid-table, of which only the periphery of the top 10 will be touched). There's no need for a knock-out round if we just want accurate seeding for another tournament.

we need to vote on whether quali tourney is an option
do we only have four poll options? 4/6, 6/4, quali tourney, 5/5.
Is it ok to have the vote on this forum?
How else would we vote?

Love the idea of 5 regional qualis but as others have said time is not on our side. Maybe next year?
i think we should represent at the euros with the best of the uk. 1 tourney ftw.
In cambridge ftw

I think a single qualifier, in an ideal world would be the fairest choice, but it depends if teams can all make a certain weekend.
In cambridge, +1, but not sleeping in there this time!

let me put the idea to cambridge before you all get ideas, it may be too early to broach the topic with everyone especially after this weekend. i'll get back.

I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying: London will handle the bitch work.

can we get the basics done before people get ahead of themselves.

There's not point in voting on it if Cambridge isn't cool with it (and at this point, we don't really have any better options for location). I'd say their approval is a basic.

In which alternative universe? From this statement I judge that crack smoking is now very popular amongst spanish youth.

the poll option would be for a quali tourney, not a quali tourney in cambridge. I'm sure we could find people and a place for a quali tourney if the UK votes for that method of getting teams to the Euros.
Let's keep on track in determining poll options for the vote, which is the initial stage.

why would we vote for something which we don't know the feasibility of ("I'm sure we could...")?
-

list order of preference to poll options on the ballot paper.
i feel like you are playing devil's advocate, are you bored?
-
• #392
Wot?
No, not bored. I just don't think stifling discussion about a possible UK champs location (and format) is helpful at this moment. In fact, I think it's an essential conversation to be having in tandem with what you're trying to do, as well as having other ideas thrown around.
-
• #393
spoons ,you are right. I think those options are good.
Is voting on here the best option?
Maybe an email to reps of each polo playing city asking them to collect ballots?

it is worth bearing in mind that the euros are qualification for THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The drawback of a poll on this forum is how unrepresentative of the UK it is - only two of us from Birmingham (less than 20% of active players) are ever on this part for example - though it could be my responsibility to rally people for a vote. The upside is that it will be quick, and that is probably more important.
A single, one-day qualifier will be a nightmare. Trying to find a date in the next month where everyone who wants to try to qualify will be very tough, then there's the question of location (trying to accommodate Edinburgh/Glasgow, Brighton and a massive London contingent).
Pragmatism says we need to start the ball rolling fast, so a poll on here (according to Snoops' suggestions), no matter how imperfect, is probably best.
-
• #396
Well I'm sure London could put on a two day tourney if no one else wants too.
Dates won't please everybody but u can vote on that shizzle
The national organisation is needed now more than ever..

The idea of a UK org is just gonna be the same as the vocal voices online at this point (to be honest).
I think a UK vote on "should we decide the ratio by vote, or hold a qualification tournament" and then working out where the tournament will be, or subsequent vote on the split is gonna be the best approach... I'm happy to pass it round to everyone, etc.
-
• #398
does it make sense that only teams who are planning on attempting to attend are allowed to vote?
in that case it shouldn't be that hard to collect votes from everyone involved, even if they are off forum.

Agreed

Ireland should have at least one spot.
Despite actually not being that new of a scene, play has been fairly localised, it is only recently that they are representing themselves as well as planning for upcoming tournements. The performance of Tour de Court this weekend is example that Ireland deserves a spot, besides the fact that it a country independent of any other.
With regards to UK allocation, this:
The UK was allocated 10 spots, why not send the 10 best UK teams to the best Euro tournament? Who cares where they're from?
sooner rather than later imo.
