So, I'm back to roughly 6.5mm.
Stupid thing... I fitted a wooden 10mm plug, but it didn't feel comfy enough and I couldn't sleep, because my daughter - who was in bed with me - was playing around and grabbing my ear. I got up in the middle of the night and shove the silicon plug with a wide collar back in.
The next morning I woke up with an infection. I had to downsize, soak the thing in saline and put some antibiotic cream on it.
Here's the lesson - not only acrylic, but also a silicone plug can cause a serious infection, as it creates a hermetically sealed environment for the bacteria to grow.
