Tandem>Solo is deeply pointless, whereas Tandem>Triplet is fun for all the family. They do Quads along the same lines which convert to triplets or tandems.

Why is tandem>solo so pointless ? You can go out for rides on your own, and go out for a ride with one partner whenever you want. Surely just as logical as tandem>triplet ? (I'm probably missing something here)

Mostly because you could buy a normal tandem and a solo for less than that convertible monstrosity, and both would be better than that thing in either configuration.

There is no excuse for a tandem.

The triplet makes sense as the kids still ride but don't have to rely entirely on their own power. We went on 50mi+ rides as kids on the back of a tandem, there would have been no chance otherwise.
