I have a japanese half sleeve on my right arm, and had planned to continue the japanese theme in the future, however I really want to get old school swallows on my chest... also considering getting a new school owl somewhere...
reckon it'll look ok mixing the styles?
I think you can mix styles, but you've got to be careful about keeping some sort of overall continuity.
A friend of mine has a few with a slight mixing of oriental style and old school. He was chatting to an artist in NY about doing his back and the guy pointed out that he needs to make sure that the artist's style isn't going to clash, because at the moment there's a lot going on and the last piece has to tie it together.
Off the top of my head I'd say if you've got a Japanese sleeve on the right, maybe see if there's a way of getting an interesting hybrid jap/old school bird on your chest and have the flow of styles working around your body?
The best thing is to go and have a chat to an artist in person to bounce some ideas around.
