But very very good news.

Well I am very happy - 15 years more track cycling awaits

that article isn't very accurate. this one is much closer
also, it wasn't a "party" it was an event for business, sponsors and stakeholders. to underline - the lease hasn't been agreed and there's still a lot to be done before the track is "saved". the hard work on getting the place sorted out hasn't really started, was the message from Monday.

Yes, the key is 'agreed terms'.
-
• #6
The terms of the lease have been agreed as I understand it.

i like how they got a "London's Famous Herne Hill" nto the CW article

Is a fifteen year lease long enough? It won't be attractive to most statutory, quango or charitable funders if they're asking for c £5m of physical works.
They'd want to recoup their investment over a longer period of time, otherwise DE get £5m of assets and facilities, for relatively f-all.
I hate being negative on this thread, and the development of the lease is a start at least...

This is part 1 just enough to secure the track itself and resurface it.
"The next stage, hopefully, is for the pavilion building to go ahead through the Trust. "There are three stages: the track to be resurfaced, the Trust to raise the funds for the pavilion and then British Cycling and the Trust together, take a lease for the long term."

Dulwich Estates can't do much else with the site (it's metropolitan open land) so - at a guess - the 15 years would roll on, it's not like it's 15 years and then they're slung out.

Which is perhaps too ambitious? and certainly not entirely needed to redevelop the site.

Either way. It's great news

-

In the works...

Thanks for that very useful post Joseph.
I wanted to know if the track will re-surface; pre-season, mid-season or post-season
-
• #17
It's being decided right now, possibly even as we speak... :P

Is Dov's Track Resprays pitching for the work?
-
• #19
I hear he's very reasonably priced...

The Chinese whispers last week said that track resurfacing might take place in the early part of the season. However, that's an absolute rumour and might be lots of wrong.
i put this up on the Dulwich website a week or two ago, is roughly the same as the BBC piece. (How long does it really take to write an article?) Article is here: http://www.dulwichparagon.com/

It can certainly use a resurface before the season starts
