The Proclamation of 1897 decreed that "no man, woman or child shall, from this day forward, ever bare such a burden as that of riding a fix-ed wheel whence alternative geared means are available." or something along those lines. Fixed is illegal in Herts.

No, I'm just a twat. You'll find out soon enough.
Don't live out there but sometimes ride up that way. More west though.. Aylesbury. But since I'm foreign scum, I don't know the borders of Herts anyway.

Yeah.. i've been riding illegally for years now, only been hassled once for riding fixed on the pavement in Leverstock Green.. I explained to the young WPC that i was on the path because my bike wasn't road legal !! she didn't know what to say, then i came clean and explained that i was on my way to my mates house as it was his turn to drive to Welwyn Track.

We need to do a ride!
The summer is coming, and us Hertfordshire hedgehogs need to come out form our
shadowy undergrowth and embrace the open road. -
• #17
Yeah, a ride to Hatfield Galleria! Then on to Watford What What!

I am both in London and Hertfordshire.
London Borough of Barnet, County of Hertfordshire.I have a total of about 500 metres of riding fixed, but I am a bottom bracket away from completing my fixie build (damn you, cheap Ofmega crank off fleabay), but when that is sorted, I will (attempt to) head out into the sticks.
Probably sticking near to the train line into Kings Cross because a) Its flatter (I hope) and b) It gives me a bail out option.

Ahh it's good to know local people are around.
If it's only 3-4 of us it'd still be cool to go on a ride.Yeah, a ride to Hatfield Galleria! Then on to Watford What What!
Ha, i was thinking more rural but a few laps of the galleria would could be very entertaining. Where abouts are you?

Ah the excitement of the first fixie build, nothing quite like it.
Shame about the crank, be sure you get some foot retention if you haven't yet.
Hopefully we'll see it in current projects. -

I used to hang out in Potters Bar, a lot of my friends lived there (I lived a couple of towns down in Hatfield). Haven't been round there for a while although I cycle through on my way to my parents every so often.
