First time I ran past a large group of squaddies out training, with them running in formation, one of them shouted BANG at me, so surprised nearly dropped dead, very funny in retrospect.
As for when it becomes fun, it never become fun, it's a default... you feel better generally... and when you don't run, you feel miserable.
