• Road bike has dropped from 8.3kg to 7.8kg, hopefully with the next few changes we can hit the target weight of 7.5kg *fairly *easily.

    To get down to 7kg would take serious money I think.

    Removing a full 500ml water bottle doesnt count.

    What have you done so far.....?

    A alu cassette could save you 150g, and only costs around £50. Doesnt last very long though, and if you do a lot of shifting under load, can loose teeth.

    The best way to loose weight is by making hundreds of small savings. The most enviromental and pocket friendly way to do this, is to replace parts which wear anyway. Chain, cables, etc.

    I'm still trying to build a 2Kg frameset (F+F+SP) into a UCI illegal bike. Reckon I could do it based on claimed weights. So I just wont weigh the finished bike, and live in blissful ignorance.
