  • ha ha ha! Are you really going to make that?
Most of the clients i work with dream of having that for breakfast!!

    Good work.

  • Oh - and GO GREEN BAY!

  • yep yep, its happening. plus some epic wing action, went for a late night shop at tesco extra, got most of the supplies, going back today/ tomorrow for another couple of boxes of wingy goodness.

  • So, I try and watch this every year, usually fall asleep during the second quarter. I have an understanding of the rules of the game, but no real idea about tactics, beyond grabbing or throwing the ball, and trying to get it as far as possible. For example no idea what a blitz is beyond that it's something to do with positioning.

So who is the favourite this year? I'm not decided who I'm going to support, usually base it which colour I prefer.

  • Pittsburgh are probably slight favourites and have recently won the superbowl a couple of times. GB haven't gotten this far for a few years but have been steadily building through the season and despite only qualifying through the wild-card system (not coming top of their division but having a decent record and winning a pre-lim of the knockouts) they're looking strong.

A blitz is when a defender is basically sent to pressurise the quarterback. Usually you have three things that a defender can do: man coverage (as simple as it sounds, covering your opposite guy), zone coverage (covering an area of the field and any men who enter into it) or blitz (push hard to either hurry the other team into a decision or to tackle them at or behind the gainline). Depending on the situation the defence as a team will be doing one, or a combination of those things.

If you have a choice, the BBC coverage will probably be more open to explaining stuff to the casual viewer.

  • Also, my GB jersey is now on.. Forgot to buy some franks for a chilli dog but I'm sure I'll be snacking throughout (even if the snacks are inappropriate).

    LET'S GO PACKERS!

  • How the fuck do you peeps suffer through the ads that increase the spectacle 3x what the game time should be??

  • eagerly anticipates photographic evidence of Henry's finished snack-tacular stadium

  • I usually watch it on Sky, as they show it every week, so my assumption is they have more of an idea of what they are talking about, watching it at the moment, but I think I might switch to BBC when it comes on, give them a go this year.

Cheers for the explanation of defense, that suddenly makes a lot more sense, I've only really followed the offense before.

  • Pittsburgh are probably slight favourites...

GB are actually the favourites, expected to win by 3...

  • Cross post from meme thread

Interesting, is that bookies or what people are predicting?

  • Sky seem to be saying that...

  • It's certainly gotten closer in a lot of people's minds then. GB have been outsiders since the the wild-card but they've certainly shown their mettle.

As a supporter, I'm backing them but is always more comforting to say they're not quite the favourites :P

Beeb coverage has now started if you fancy it John. Not showing the sport week in week out changes their target audience a little bit but they've got quite a good team of former players commentating.

  • Interesting, is that bookies or what people are predicting?

Both. GB opened up as faves with the bookies. If the people disagreed in big enough numbers they could reverse that with the weight of money, but that hasn't happened. If anything, GB seem to have shortened up...

  • I love the beeb always aim it at complete beginners....wouldn't have had a clue what was going on last year without it!

  • Yeah watching BBC now.

  • beer: check
    7 layer bean dip: check
    tortilla chips: check
    packer win: fingers crossed
